  1. Tesla Universal Charger review (J1772 and NACS): Best available single charger

Replaced my Tesla Gen 2 wall charger with the Universal about a month ago. I no longer have to back the R1T into the garage for charging. Handles the Rivian and Tesla flawlessly. If you plan to do a similar swap, check multiple times and ways to be sure the power is off and torque the screws to...
  2. Picking up R1’s in San Francisco this week

Stop stressing and enjoy the vehicle. It's amazing!
  3. 1st Cybertruck deliveries officially set for Nov 30... annual production capacity >125K

Oh that one hurt...I guess you get to decide what gets discussed and who wins...intelligently.
  4. 1st Cybertruck deliveries officially set for Nov 30... annual production capacity >125K

Selling more (at a profit) is what makes Tesla a worldwide trillion-dollar company. It's THE metric upon which all corporate entities are measured. How long it came to market?...wake me when someone cares.
  5. 1st Cybertruck deliveries officially set for Nov 30... annual production capacity >125K

You seem to give Rivian a pass on their delays. OK, fair enough. Tesla just doesn't measure up to Rivian. Let's just see how many R1Ts and CTs are sold in 2024. Care to wager?
  6. 1st Cybertruck deliveries officially set for Nov 30... annual production capacity >125K

Depends on what you were/are expecting. The aerodynamics are relative to it's competition, not the model S or Lucid air. On that speculation, let's compare notes after the unveiling. Oh, and yes my sister works in Austin.
  7. 1st Cybertruck deliveries officially set for Nov 30... annual production capacity >125K

Yes they are shipping now but how long have we waited for said items? I attended the June 2019 unveiling of the R1T in Denver when max pack was listed as an option. That's a long wait. The delay of the PTC fix was/is terrible. My point is all manufacturers have delays. If you're waiting for a...
  8. 1st Cybertruck deliveries officially set for Nov 30... annual production capacity >125K

The metrics most care about are range, charging speed, payload and towing capacity. The CT will excel in all. Acceleration is a given. The aerodynamics of the triangle design reduces drag leading to better efficiency per Kwh of battery capacity regardless of chemistry. 800 volt architecture...
  9. 1st Cybertruck deliveries officially set for Nov 30... annual production capacity >125K

Well prepared to be surprised as it will outsell the Lightning, Silverado, and R1T combined. Most likely it will have far more capability in range, towing and efficiency. Hideous?...perhaps, but form follows function for some. ...you know, those who have engineering taste ....and money.
  10. 1st Cybertruck deliveries officially set for Nov 30... annual production capacity >125K

And how long have we waited for the promised the redesigned camp kitchen, max packs, PTC fix, service appointments, etc. Tesla is not alone in delayed promises. But they are more fun to ridicule...right?
  11. 1st Cybertruck deliveries officially set for Nov 30... annual production capacity >125K

They're also good at building profitable EVs with excellent software and charging network.
  12. Tesla Universal Wall Connector home charger - it's here!

I swapped out my Gen 2 charger. Took about 45 minutes with commissioning. Easy process for anyone comfortable working with electricity. The dock is so small and slick. Compare it to my old adapter. Now I no longer have to back the R1T into the garage to charge.
  13. GM, Ford Shares Slide as $80 Billion Union Risk Hits Confidence

I believe GM pays about $55/hr. Ford is $64/hr. Tesla is $50-$55/hr. I assume Rivian is somewhere near Tesla. If the union can obtain $80, $90 or $120 per hour plus all the other demands, how can the companies compete manufacturing EVs they already lose tens of thousands on each vehicle produced?
  14. F150 Lightning gets nearly $10K in price cuts

My point is a price war appears to brewing. No, Rivian can't justify its lofty price if Ford, Tesla and perhaps GM start going at it. If history is any guide, just look at the recent price battles between the Y and Mach E. I don't have any hard evidence but I'm guessing most Rivian buyers do not...
  15. F150 Lightning gets nearly $10K in price cuts

Interesting take. Rumor mill has the CT configuration and pricing to be unveiled on Wednesday, hence the Ford move yesterday. I believe Tesla will aggressively price the truck ($60K, $70K & $80K) to eat into the traditional (F, GM, S) market. Rivian can't sit there alone at $90K-$95K. I'm...
  16. Tesla: "First Cybertruck Built at Giga Texas! 🤠"

"Can't be both best at specs and price." Are you sure? Comparing it to the Silverado and Lightning, I believe it will tow more, haul more and have equal or better range with a smaller kWh pack, thus more efficient, 48 volt architecture and a better charging curve (Lightning is terrible)...
  17. Tesla: "First Cybertruck Built at Giga Texas! 🤠"

I own a R1T but I understand and recognize better engineering (versus the legacy OEMs). If that subjects me to ridicule...OK, have fun.
  18. Tesla: "First Cybertruck Built at Giga Texas! 🤠"

I agree on the R1T. Just a special vehicle and my powered tonneau still works. It ain't going nowhere.
