Torn. I kind of like the idea of screws for serviceability, but you know that will rattle after a while unless there’s some kind of gasket or sealant
“Cheap doors” would be the absolute last choice of words I’d use to describe a Rivian. :CWL:
anyways OP, get this thing!
If you’re like me, you won’t be able to sell it, because there’s nothing on the market even close.
Sounds like Rivian just figured out how to harness inverse reactive current from the unilateral phase detractors.
Surely there would be old Chrysler secrets in the Normal facility, but I never thought it would be the plans for the Turbo Encabulator.
Personally, the reason for ceramic coating is because I'm lazy.
A quick wash with a neutral-pH soap is all it takes. Stuff just disappears.
Only the beaters go through the auto wash.
That’s right! I always forget that Gear Guard doesn’t actually write directly to USB device.
Actually would prefer that it was an option - and especially for dashcam. The drive I use is easily as fast as eMMC.
The lack of dash cam would confuse me a whole lot less if we didn't already have the same thing - except only when you're parked - and with motion detection.
Must be some software challenge that I'm missing.
Rivian gave me a very fair trade in offer at the time.
Carvana was #2, I think, and Driveway was laughably low.
The whole market tanked after I had a delay, and Rivian's offer dropped accordingly. Sold p2p.
“Due to high demand, non-Tesla vehicles will be limited to 2kW charging at this station.
Consider subscribing to Tesla Premium Charging Beta for $249/mo”
The talk of right-to-repair and ease of maintenance is interesting.
I wonder if they're using widely available, off the shelf parts for the driveline, steering, and whatnot.
If I were going on say an African safari, that would be the one reason I'd still take a Land Cruiser or Wrangler over a...
Has anyone collected enough data to have a "miles per gallon" figure?
I have an older Honda EU6500is, and will give it a shot once the truck is depleted

If it remains lockable like the camp speaker is, that would solve the #1 thing I miss coming from Tesla, with a glovebox PIN
that said, I do use the speaker (maybe once a month) and the flashlight almost daily
I’ve already managed to scuff mine up, doing “truck stuff”.
Appreciate y’all posting the price. I had considered ordering another one and replacing it, or even swapping them back and forth.
Sounds like that is a terrible idea.
maybe this is another part with an opportunity for a more robust...
Mine does occasionally blow cold air, when the cabin is cold, even if the display shows red wavy lines.
It's weird. I've just been bumping up the temperature to some random number until it makes warm air again.
At the moment, it's cheaper to insure than my old Tesla.
Luckily, for some people like myself, the Rivian is able to replace 3 vehicles. So when it inevitably goes up, it won't hurt that bad
Just here to +1 this question.
i was clearing land this weekend and it dropped off my belt loop.
Since the fob is the preferred device to hand to service/3rd parties, it really had me worried.
Fob was found, but the question remains
Worse. If my 2020 Tesla functioned as well as it did -as delivered new, I wouldn’t have sold it last month.
New builds being decontented has always been the trade. We’ll get fancy options that disappear, and later buyers will get refinements and new (hardware) features.
I just want to see the...

We had some unseasonably warm weather over the last week.
Now the R1 has been through an 80F->freezing->80F cycle and the noises were louder than ever.
