That's awesome.
- Tesla can keep focusing on what they want to
- People get CarPlay today
- If Tesla suddenly went out of business, we've already figured out how to integrate new stuff into their UI!
Build one for the Rivian. I'll buy one, and I don't even want CarPlay!
While we're going to extremes, why even have two distinct choices between Apple and Google?
Why not just have a single state-owned phone/car/electricity/food company?
Google and Apple spend lots of money employing engineers, architects, project managers and consultants to work directly with those software challenged automakers to get AA/CP integrated. (Red flag #1)
But again, what Rivian says about their intentions:
It's more like they shipped a truck with heated seat hardware, but haven't yet added the icon to turn them on. So rather than finishing that, we demand them to add software integration for our AliExpress heated seat covers.
I think the title might be scary (a mandatory power button would be regressive). When you further explained, it makes sense.
Maybe the steering wheel buttons could even be configurable. Activate camp mode, in this case; kneel could be another option. Seems low effort. There might(?) be some...
Hey @Mark_AZR1T is there a secret option to buy 3 pucks and the big case? :CWL:
I purchased the single puck, but my R1T needs to go on somebody else’s lift, and thought I’d have rock sliders by now. Otherwise I’ll buy a set and try to sell off my single one </first world problems>
Quality...
It’s also a cautionary tale of a company that had physical distinction (the keyboard) and control of their software ecosystem (BBOS), who traded it for a trojan horse OS provided by an advertising company.
It’s a boon to shareholders, but diminished choice for users.
?
Former MYLR here - had those rear Mando calipers from day one. Honestly they’re not terrible for rear brakes on a car with heavy regen (and no track mode, bleh)
The covers? Now that just seems sleazy.
In general, it's great for people voice their desired features, for example: this thread - "I want Waze."
How we get Waze is an implementation detail, and it's probably not super productive for any of us to keep repeating a preference (to which Rivian has already answered - not right now, at...
Oh boy, another thread that devolved to CarPlay.
In other news, my Hyundai gets stuck when trying to rock crawl. Totally unacceptable, where’d I leave my pitchfork…
