That depends on what the updated design is.
“better the devil you know…” and all that.
There’s a certain point where, worst case, I’ve resigned myself to continuously DIY repair this one if it comes to it.
I didn’t plan to get a 2022 delivery, and I’m still shocked to have one, but the pre-March price/equity made it impossible to say no.
At the current price, I’d have held out until a 2024+
The difference is that Rivian execs and engineers have stated, for years, that they do not intend to integrate CP or AA.
How could that possibly set an expectation?
However - they also said the integrated infotainment will be "better". It's not. yet
Not exactly- I have other vehicles with both AA/CP, and for years have developed applications delivered to both platforms.
I can blather on about why a couple manufacturers maintaining their own software ecosystem is a good thing, but…
The R1 wasn’t advertised supporting AA/CP. I’m not sure...
That was question # 5 or 6 for me, so it might be randomized or adaptive.
I didn’t ask for AA/CP or furthering a duopoly, sorry. Just want functioning voice controls, SMS, and better navigation.
Whatever happens, I just want regen and hold behavior to be selectable options/modes.
I do not want a vehicle that emulates ICE driving, but completely appreciate that some people do, or have weather that warrants it.
In my mind, All Purpose/Standard height/Soft felt kind of like MB GLS comfort mode. Standard/Sport was close to the MB/BMW “sport” feeling.
Low and lowest suspension were ROUGH on our poor roads In any mode. That’s improved now. I don’t have enough miles on this release yet to compare it to...
If we’re playing “how I would have done it”…
I’d have put disconnects on all 4 wheels, and have FWD/RWD/2WD Low like an old twin stick transfer case:D
and then everyone would curse the additional cost
Admittedly, I did not read the fine print.
That said… it’s in the ballpark of some Vossens in 22”, and load would be a question, where these are designed for it.
They still have my attention, but that’s a different household finance conversation compared to “buy-it-now!”
Satin...
Exactly. If that config existed before my number was called, that's the truck I would've bought... slightly jealous of those who get the option.
guess everyone's different though
I’ve been on the fence about this, also having the rattle.
Service will take care of it under warranty, but I also want to run some wires for accessories.
Sorry- no insight… but subscribed:)
I can confirm that it will charge, but does require a neutral/ground bonding. 16A was the highest I could get stable, but that's more about the health of my poor old generator
Somehow I managed to put a huge dent in one of the step/sliders on my old truck.
Repainting them after years of abuse (granted you could just pull the whole assembly off)
overall, I agree with you. Just dreaming up edge cases
