Just got the 42 update notice. A bit scared to do while on vacation travelling. Rivian chat said okay to skip and wait for the 46 update, but he didn't recommend it.
Are there a lot of you waiting and planning to skip the 42 update?
Yes, checked it every day. Resets never cleared the message except momentarily, came back as soon as pushed brake pedal.
Final straw was with numerous flashing and beeping messages that hood wasn't latched, and both gear tunnel doors were open... decided to see if let it go to sleep would...
Service tech seemed amazed I was able to do this, although it is all described in the owners manual. Just pain in the butt to have 2 batteries that each need jumping.
Newer versions have a single 12 volt battery and a capacitor.
Shortly after removing the primary battery, it went from 13...
Access to primary battery jump is via the two wires pulled out of the round plastic cover to the right of the tow hitch. I charged this up, then connected to a 12 volt lithium ion battery I just happened to have.
Unable to get into gear, so went through the frunk access for the secondary...
R1T eventually bricked in garage, had to jump primary and secondary 12 volt battery to get it into gear to remove from garage, then back into garage to get proper "6 feet" clearance for the mobile Rivian service tech that came the next day, and replaced both the batteries. Took less than an...
Rivian mobile service scheduled next week. For now, keeping it plugged in, parked in garage. Only losing about 2 weeks of use of my R1T. Hoping they can remedy this problem, as lead acid batteries should last 4 years, not a year and a half! Ultimate solution is lithium ion 12 volt batteries...
Same message here a couple of days ago. Rivian approved for a mobile service, but no appointments before 2024. Told them that was totally unacceptable. Will drive 100 miles to SC if that's what it takes to fix sooner. Otherwise will leave parked and plugged in my garage, too afraid of...
Got the "service 12 volt battery system" warning message on the latest software for Halloween on my 2022 R1T.
Multiple software resets and sleep cycles haven't fixed. Contacted Rivian service, waiting for a response, but afraid to drive it out of the garage for fear of being stranded...
Had the "DC fast charging performance reduced" message several times over the last 6 months, always seemed to clear with resets, and never actually noticed a DCFC performance reduction. But now, after the latest software update, getting "Warm plug detected, charging slower", and fastest speed...
At RAN charger yesterday, 95 degrees, in the shade. First time noticed, R1T was plugged into Tesla destination charger at a resort, and ambient temperature was around 85 degrees in the sunshine...
Have had the "DC fast charging performance reduced" message in the past, always went away with a reset. Now after latest software update, and a reset, am getting "warm plug detected, slower charging" with maximum speed 64kW on a Rivian Adventure Network fast charger.
Awaiting further input...
I didn't know to initiate the charge with the app first, just tried plugging in after my R1T was added with the VIN. It didn't ever connect after 5 minutes, then disconnected. I did initiate with the app and the card, and later got it to Autocharge+ connect, although it was very slow to do so...
I have my R1T insured with Allstate. They do have an auto replacement rider that would cost me an extra $33 per year to add. But, not sure how it compares to the Rivian Nationwide total replacement cost insurance. Going to contact both companies to find out. I can imagine how difficult it...
Just FYI....this happened to me after vacationing and using the provided charger on 120 volt circuit, and amps turned down to 12 amps inside the R1T. When I returned home, expected to charge at 48 amps as usual on my Rivian Charger, but it was stuck on the 12 amps, and didn't discover until it...
