I am not eligible for the tax credit, so that doesn’t help. I agree, there’s certainly a market at dual motor pricing - which is still more than I paid for my quad. But that’s why I get so hung up on it.
Yes. Supply had increased as production ramped up and yes, demand has waned and will continue to. There’s no way I’d pay the market price for my R1S. I love my S, but had pre price hike pricing.
At least it can be locked. But they had all these promises about climate control that I really need for long trips.
I don’t need games, or want them, just climate. I need that a lot more than many of the recent updates - including waypoints. I still use Waze as the navigation system itself...
Just did my fourth roadtrip with kids and first in winter. Would be amazing to actually be able to have them control the second row “zones” on rear display.
Has anyone seen or heard anything about the rear screen having any functionality beyond heated seats? It’s useless right now…
Vampire drain is much worse on my Tesla model X than my R1S. Especially true in cold weather. My X lost 3 miles of range in 22 degree temps overnight. My R1S lost 1.
Regardless, get the 20”s. Even if you’re sensitive to range 20-30 miles won’t kill you. You need to charge either way. How...
I have 21”s. If I had it to do over, I’d get 20” ATs. Not for the snow, but for the more typical wheel size. I think you’re likely fine with 21”s but the challenge is getting winter tires, if you want them, is a very limited decision with the 21s
Not on topic, but I don’t think they have “plenty of demand” post price hike as stated above. There was a thread yesterday about all the people who “reserved” within last 2-4 months and got configuration emails within the past couple of days.
As a pre price hike R1S owner I can say I wouldn’t...
Reserved August 2023 got email to configure, only dual options, yesterday. As others said, I think the conversion rate is low. As I have a pre-price hike R1S (4/21 reserve, 7/23 delivery), I just can’t bring myself to pay the post price hike premium.
The other thing holding me back now is...
Unfortunately, the car nav is so bad I sill use Waze, so this doesn’t help. Only thing that makes me feel better is our Tesla’s nav is also terrible and often wrong.
That said, I do not want CarPlay, etc.
Different topic, but I would be most concerned about Lucid being in business to deliver the Gravity. You can get a Mercedes EQ whatever for $110k+ now if you want a luxury kid hauler.
I’d get a charger. You’ll get 16 miles of range an hour with a 14-50, so you’ll get more than 100 miles of range at night, but if you ever need it faster, the 14-50 is fairly slow…
Who is going to rotate the tires? Rivian? If I ask them to, it will be 10,000+ miles before I can get an appointment. It sucks they’ve not given guidance here.
I have an iPhone 15 Pro and PAAK is moderately better. Works about 75% of the time, which is up from 50% prior to update. But my Tesla works 100% of the time and has for years…keep the improvements coming!
There are something like 2-3 in the Northeast depending your definition of NE - so doesn’t effect me.
They need the money, so it’s fine. I hope they use it to get more service centers and more staff at service centers. Their service right now is abysmal. Far worse than I’ve ever had with Tesla...
That’s fair. I just don’t think they need to spend any engineering time on a faster, more powerful R1 platform. No one I’ve read here says it isn’t fast or powerful enough. I do realize replacing Bosch with an internal solution makes a ton of sense if they want to continue making the quads.
We all need Rivian to focus on getting their R2 vehicles to market ASAP so Rivian can stay in business.
I don’t need more power or speed in my R1S quad. I DO need Rivian to stay in business though. I’d rather they focus on the R2.
Like Tesla, I am sure Rivian will come out with faster...
