Anyone know if Xcare is still offering the 18mo financing? Would do it once I get my R1S if they are.
The 18mo deal disappeared for awhile a couple of months ago - I sent an inquiry and a good chat with a rep - they extended the offer again. I jumped on it…hope to never need it, but will likely hit 60k this weekend… nice to have.

With the high cost of repairs does it make more sense to do the $500 deductible?

I think just the opposite. With the recent repair I had that was still just under the original warranty, xcare would have paid close to twice what the entire policy cost me on just one repair for the $100 deductible. Even a couple of more minor issues over the life of the policy would likely exceed the cost of the policy, so why not opt for the lower deductible?

3 repairs in less than a year into extended warranty...that would've been $1500 out of pocket so far. That's why I chose $0 deductible. Definitely worth the bump in the initial premium.

Sorry brain fart. I was thinking the one from Endurance. Wonder if anyone has any experience with them.
https://www.endurancewarranty.com/

Endurance does not list Rivian as a vehicle they cover in their drop down menu- maybe if you call them they do. However with that said, when I signed up for XCARE, Endurance is listed as an administrator with their payment plan. So perhaps XCARE has the lock with coverage through Endurance as their insurance carrier? That's just my guess here.

With that said, a couple of things with XCARE. 18 months interest free is available if you call them or you can get $200 off by paying the entire amount up front. Interest rates are high right now, so I like interest free lending and letting my $ sit in the market. YMMV.

XCARE quotes are based on Rivian rates and claims, so if Rivian rates (labor/parts) go up in cost with the number of claims they receive (high vs low), the quotes will reflect that ratio. That's why sooner is better IMO. With inflation and everything going on in the world, I don't foresee Rivian prices getting any cheaper so I wanted to lock in a warranty plan while I'm still covered by Rivian and it's the cheapest possible. I'm going to assume my suspension is going to fail at some point which seems to be a re-occurring theme for any vehicle that has air suspension. One claim for suspension will likely cover the entire cost of my warranty plan.

Also, in speaking to Cary at XCARE he said Rivian has been good about accepting direct payments from XCARE- if that's not the case I'd love to hear feedback on that. I know some have expressed concerns about paying a large bill up front and waiting for reimbursement. Reimbursements are supposed to happen within 7 days via ACH or you can have the Rivian Service Center accept a direct payment which would be my preferred method. I can see how some want a $14k suspension bill and get paid the points. The key is to make sure you let XCARE know you are have an issue BEFORE submitting any claims for work performed and proper pre-approve for repair. I'm told will deny you every time if you don't do this.

I went for the 10k mile a year/10 year plan w $100 deductible. I will need to make six claims before I break even on the $0 deductible plan. I've never kept a car for 10 years but I can see making a stretch because I love this R1T!

Was going pull the trigger on a warranty option. Called them to ask a few questions, but unfortunately they couldn't sell me anything because of Californian laws.

Xcare? Must be a new development because some CA owners were able to buy their policies. Pray for Rivian to get approval from CDI and offer Rivian Care by the time you need it. Or just stick the $ in a dividend reinvestment fund.

Yes, XCare. I was told the same thing that’s mentioned in this Reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Rivian/s/WrI3oW7LN7

“Because they are a dealership based in Texas, they can’t sell directly to California customers.”

That makes me wonder whether any California customers who were sold warranties might need to be refunded.

I checked with Xcare yesterday and they confirmed that they can’t sell CA policies. Sounds like the same issue with Rivian Care.

Are there any options in CA? I see that CA has some requirement to sell “Mechanical Breakdown Insurance” which has different regulations, that most companies seem to want to avoid.

I also am seeing some references to Credit Unions selling MBI policies but not sure if they’d cover Rivians.

The insurance situation seems to be a nightmare in general right now in CA.

A failed suspension component or half-shaft would fall under a mechanical failure; these aren’t consumables like brakes.
I would think along those lines, as well.

With an internal combustion vehicle, there are anticipated failures within milestone mileage, Things like timing belts, head gaskets, various pumps, etc. Question: With an EV, are there also such anticipated failures when it come to mileage milestones?

This is just response from Google. And have no experience with any of them. Endurance I recognize from posts I’ve come across—and not positive posts. The others are completely unknown to me. Short of options, IMO, set aside a fund.
