2026.23.0 Update Pushed to R1

Thought I'd join to add my 2 cents on update issues. Picked up my 2026 R1T tri last month so this is my first Rivian update.

1. PAAK is less reliable, and less responsive. I now routinely get all the way to my car and touch the handle before it recognizes my presence. Walking away is the opposite, it waits much longer before locking the doors. I was used to taking a few steps, now I'm walking 10 steps and looking back to double check
2. Kneel mode takes about twice as long. It has the same initial big moves (front, then back, then front again, but seems to then fiddle around for some period of time after those moves, before indicating it's done
3. My A/C works fine, but my ventilated seats are a shadow of their former selves. When I first bought it, they did seem weak. Last week I discovered the trick to turning on rear footwell A/C, and it made a huge difference, actually providing some crisp forced air. Since the update, that frosty blast is gone, and no combination of settings brings it back.

I was excited to get an update and go through the process, even though this update didn't contain much that was meaningful to me. Now I just wish I could revert to the prior build, since things I use every day have been made worse.

Have you tried doing a hard reset? I've experienced in past updates a hard reset is needed after the update to fully resolve issues.

I know it's rough to get an update you're excited for, only to have it introduce more bugs/issues. It's the same thing many of us have been experiencing for the last 4 or 5 updates, Rivian introduces new features and it's a step forward, but creates several new issues taking other working areas back. We keep hoping there will be an update that resolves those.

How has the update been for those that have been living with it? Did it resolve any bugs not listed on the release notes? Did it introduce any new bugs?

Darn, and here I was about to post how much better PAAK has been after installing 2026.30. For the past 6 months it has been working like garbage (esp at home from a sleep) and after installing this week, it's been near instant response every time.

They didnt note any PAAK specific changes but did mention an improvement to cellular & wifi performance. I notice in RR that my car shows connected more often. I also did a soft reset after the install as well as the recent iOS updates.

Hard to say what cleared up where, but put me in the column of appreciating this update.

I will try another hard reset! Can't hurt
None of this has prevented me from finding every excuse to drive it.

I'm still on 2026.15.01 on my Gen 1 R1T (with a Connect+ subscription also!). I think that 23 should be pushed to me by now, irght?

Yes, it "should". No guarantees on timing though. I am non-C+ and got mine last week for comparison.

Same-ish. I'm also not a Connect+ subscriber, and only got the update on Tuesday (or was it Wednesday?).

Just to follow up, the root cause of the issue appears to be my vehicle's inability to connect to Wi-Fi. No amount of remote fixes seems to work, and for some reason, Rvian cannot deliver the update over the regular cell network. I’ve got a SC appointment next month now.

But I thought I’d mention it here since this seems to be the main thread for this update. A few of us are noticing the Gen 2 R1’s steering wandering with a weird ping pongy feeling on the highway after this update.

It seems to be taking more effort to keep it in the middle of the lane after the update. Would be good to know if others are seeing this issue. It does feel like the lane keep assist may be acting oddly but it’s hard to tell. It’s not horrible given that I came from a Jeep Gladiator but it seems a little off.

2026.23.0 is the latest on G1 R1 series.

Same-ish. I'm also not a Connect+ subscriber, and only got the update on Tuesday (or was it Wednesday?).

Also a Connect+ and hadn't received as of this morning. Looking at Settings/Update in the infotainment, it showed 'Paused' for the update. Soft and hard reset without success (did see it downloading but stopped at 74% and then showed Paused again). Removed wifi and restored wifi. Same. Contacted Riv support and they pushed an OTA an hour later. Seems to have worked.
