That really sucks. To bad you can't get a paint match and fix it yourself. Shame on Rivian. I bet Rivian has their people monitoring these threads. Maybe they will see this and contact you to get it repaired for free. Remarks like this don't bode well for new lookers still making up their minds whether to purchase or not. Good luck.

Also, a complete false narrative that oil comes from dinosaurs.
Animal life is carbon-based, so they would be a small contribution of the fossilized content, but plant life is 99.999% source of fossil fuels.
Still wrong, at least in regard to petroleum (but right with coal). Petroleum primarily is derived from Protista Kingdom organisms (primarily algae)and Monera Kingdom (bacteria including those that broke down organic materials in anaerobic conditions). There are some contributions from Animalia Kingdom (mostly zooplankton) and Plantae Kingdom (plants).
But Sinclair's dinosaur has negligible contribution to petroleum products.

Are you sure the detailer who cleaned your car didn't use something they shouldn't have on it? According to my detailer, some of the cleaners out there are harmful to vegan leather.
I actually am not sure what they use. That could certainly be the culprit. Rivian threw the sunscreen theory out there as a guess but it wasn't confirmed by any means.

The grade of the Rivian vinyl is really high, but that grade is more vulnerable to chemicals.

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect Rivian to replace that in such a new car, but tbh wear like that does happen over time with a lot of vehicles. UV and hand oils can be so corrosive. That said, this is why I use detailer spray on my cars about once a week, lol

Unfortunately, sunscreen makers do not publicize it, but some chemicals such as avobenzone, oxybenzene and others, which are used in many sunscreens, are very hard on materials used in cars, furniture and other products, if left for an extended time. Since it takes time for these chemicals to break down other materials, regularly cleaning areas which come in contact with sunscreen can avoid/minimize this problem which occurs in all cars.

I thought I would spray down a little for bugs before heading out on the trail into the woods, and as expected, it ruined my helmet. I knew better but thought "it will be fine". It wasn't.

Luckily on that same day I hit a ramp wrong and crashed, hitting my head on the ground. The helmet did its job but it was slightly dented. So darn, I had to get a new helmet anyway.

DEET dissolves plastics, we found out the hard way when my wife put her bug sprayed legs on the plastic dash trim in her Impala years ago... Permanent lightly dissolved marks.

Im with those rhat say Rivian should work with customer or put a major warning tag on these areas when new on items to avoid.

However, op can maybe ask for human leather replacement as it holds up to chemicals and no animals are harmed. It also follows Rivian environmental focus, less humans are beneficial to the environment. I kid I kid.

My Cuban pigmentation means that I never need to use sunscreen and wouldn’t have this problem, however, I once damaged another car with a cigar ash. Compromises.

Hopefully, the newly-approved (in the US) bemotrizinol (aka BEMT) sunscreen won't have the same effect on plastics. BEMT is a larger molecule that does not penetrate the skin, and gets absorbed in the bloodstream, the way that the suncreens presently available do, so presumably safer for human use. Maybe that larger molecule won't break down vinyl either.

Unfortunately, it may be a while before you can buy BEMT-based sunscreens. From what I read, only one US cosmetics maker will incorporate it into their products, and those won't be on shelves until September. Others plan to offer it, but apparently, it's not likely to be widely available until next summer.

Melanin only has minimal SPF, so yes, you do still need sun screen. Darker skins still burn and get cancer.
Thanks to the air quality in the Phoenix area, UV is worse here on top of that.

A buddy of mine worked at Apple back in the day. One specific sunblock, I think banana boat, would damage the screens of iPhones. Chemicals will damage various materials.
