Just dropped my S off for service... They wanted me to take it on a test drive with the technician to replicate the issues. 4 of the 7 issues were replicated, but then a new issue popped up of a knocking in the front right.

Other issues..
Drivers side vent not moving, and pointing at door
Pull to left during regen braking
Rattle in the back
Driver+ Phantom Braking
ADAS Phantom Braking
Blind spot cameras not always working, Blind spot cameras not always turning off
Proximity Locking/Unlocking not working.

They loaned me a R1T in ElCap with green interior.
You can def tell its been rode hard and put away wet. Got some dents on her, will need tires soon too. Only 10k miles on it.

Just giving a update.

They told me Thursday that the truck would be complete on Friday, and they would be contacting me Friday mid day.

Here it is Sunday, and I am still in the loaner!

I will say I think I should have bought a T instead of the S. It rides better, and its just nicer to have a truck option. The loaner T is in a near spec to my S. 22inch wheels, and a QM. It is just a adventure edition vs my Launch. But I dont think that would make a difference in ride quality.

I have used the 3rd row 4 times since I have owned it. But its something we could have also used the Mini-Van for. It was also nice to take 17 LARGE trash bags full of cloths and stuff to the donation place. Bring home the 75" TV

I am so glad I have the glass roof interior liner on my S. The interior temp differences is HUGELY noticeable. To the point that the AC cant keep up.

Just picked up my loaner..

They were unable to fix the problems with the Driver+ or the ADAS, proximity locking/unlocking, and the cameras, as that is software. Hopefully the recent update, or some future update, will fix those problems.

Replaced the drivers side vent
Fixed the rattle in the back - Door panel was loose, and a couple clips on the roof were not aligned correctly

No issues found for the pulling to the left, or the clunk on the right.

They were still trying to get me to sign the rental agreement when I returned it, which I flat out refused. The tailgate has some dents, and large scratches, so does the hood. Missing interior pieces, including the flashlight. I am not going to sign a agreement blindly.

Went to a birthday party yesterday for a friend of my son..

I wasnt really paying to much attention, with my back hurting.

But I did hear the kids dad talking about his HellCat.

I asked him if he has ever heard of a Rivian. His wife piped in, "Oh thats yours" and started asking me a whole bunch of questions.

Towards the end of the conversation, my wife said to me that I should take the dad out for a Test Drive.

I mean, shes giving me permission to drive spirited, so I took it.

Did my normal sales pitch about the air suspension, the glass roof and how much I hate it, how idiotic is was for Rivian to not give us a glove box, and the seats not being built for fat Americans, but I would still own it. He asked why, and I said its something you have to experience, with a slight snicker under my breathe.

So we head out of the neighborhood, and find a straight away that he normally drives his hellcat spiritedly. We live in Rural Colorado, so we didnt have to drive far.

I came to a stop on the road, and I turned to him, and asked him if he was ready, and he said he was.. I looked at him, and said no your not. You might want to press your back against the car seat, and take a breathe.

He looked at me like I was crazy, I said ok..

I pressed my foot on the brake, and the other on the go pedal, and after a second, released the brake pedal.

Next words I heard were not interpretable to english. Got it up to about 60. Which was only 10 over for the road speed limit.

I pulled off at the next street, and pull over to let him regain his brain (only words for it). He said hold on, my brain is smashed against the back of my head, to which I responded, I told you that you werent ready.

At this point, I reach down, and take it out of All-Purpose mode, and but it into sport.

I look over at him again, are you ready this time, he responded sort of.

Pulled it back out onto the straight, and again, one foot on the brake pedal, and one on the go pedal. Released the go pedal, and this time we got a little bit of wheel spin on the front right corner.

This time he said something like Jumping Gehoosefed.

We headed back to his house, and I spent the next 2 hours going over every nook and crany of the truck for him and his wife.

At the end of the conversation, I mentioned that my G1 Quad is not even the fastest one, they are coming out with a faster one next year. I do wish I had been able to show them the Halloween modes, but of course Rivian has not updated me yet. He was very excited to hear about the Kitt mode thou.

They loved the White interior I had, the 3 row seating, the silver paint, and the stereo. He also loved the locking drawer I had, for his Pew-Pew life.

So now he is thinking about trading his 2003 Ford Excursion Diesel, her 2020 Buick Veranp, and a 2020 Honda Accord, for a R1T for himself, and getting a R1S for his wife.

I told him to slow his roll. You have never driven a EV before, or even considered a EV in their life. Start with one, and make sure it going to work for you, your driving style, and that the range is going to work for them, especially his wife, who does some very extended daily driving (tank of gas on her Honda daily). He already has a single 220 plug in his garage, on a 30 amp breaker, which sits on the other side of the wall from his electrical panel. So he could easily upgrade it to a 60 amp circuit, or to a load sharing plug if he did get 2 EV's.

I should have mentioned about renting one from Turo or something to see if the range is going to work for his wifes needs.

Hit 10k Miles. No real issues, just the normal rattles.

A new one started on the right side of the dash on Thursday that is driving me nuts!

Have not really been able to look at it closer, Thursday was also my 25 year anniversary. Took the wife to dinner, and as soon as we got home, she, 3 of 4 kids, got ill. So been baby sitting, and have not been able to get anything done really.

My wife wants to blame the restaurant we went to dinner at... I keep telling her that it wasnt the dinner... We didnt even have the kids with us, and they are sick!

Still having some ghost alignment issues, maybe? Its hard to describe. It just randomly pulls left or right, with no real rhyme or reason to it. Its not road crow. On different days, on the same section of road, sometimes it pulls left, sometimes right.

My tires are still in great shape. Was hoping to have them worn out by winter.. That didnt happen surprisingly.

Had to change my charging for the winter. 76% was fine during warmer months, but have had to increase it to 80% to maintain the same range.

Still waiting on Rivian to call and say my spare tire is ready.. GRR!

Just got a call from Rivian that they are needing to replace my low voltage battery. I told them I have an appt coming up in late February to fix something else. They indicated that it cant wait..

So I asked a very straight forward question... "Are you saying that this is a recall, or a quiet recall"

To my surprise, he responded with a "Yes"

So I got it scheduled, and added in the spare tire (that I have been waiting a year on), and a new rattle somewhere on the right side front interior of the truck. Been driving me batty for a couple weeks now.

Mobile service came out on Friday as scheduled.. However, they were only able to perform 1 part of the recall, the battery. Apparently the Denver SC only has 2 of the specific tool to do the 2nd recall, the wheel hub bolts, and they had already been checked out by other techs when he went to get one.

So they rescheduled the 2nd part of the recall for February 7th.

He did bring the spare tire kit, and that got installed (only 1 year waiting)
He could hear the rattle, but could not determine where it was coming from. They will look at this again on the 7th.
Replaced the LVB (Low Voltage Bat)
Topped off my Washer fluid
Topped off my tires
Put some padding under what he thought was the rattle (it wasnt)

When I took the truck to the car wash that evening, and I was towel drying the truck, I think I found the rattle. The black piece at the back of the hood that houses the windshield washers. Mine moves, and I can make it rattle easily. But not sure if its supposed to do this or not.

Can someone possible check to see if theirs moves, and maybe rattles?

Rivian mobile service came out to my house to do some more repairs on Friday.

What was scheduled was to fix the rattle, and do the wheel bearing recall.

He replaced the upper dash pad, got rid of one rattle, and created another..
Wheel Bearing recall is no longer allowed to be done on mobile service. They have had MANY injuries from people performing this recall.

So they scheduled me for in shop repair on March 7th to again fix both these issues.

I am considering selling it thou. I like the Rivian, but the seats are just not suited for my body type. There are a few other things too.

I have been shopping other vehicles, but very limited. Nothing is set in stone yet. I think I am going to keep it one more year, and see what transpires in the automotive world.

I do like the model Y and X, I also like the Chevy SilEVrado/GMC Sierra EV. But they have other problems that I dont like. I really like the Ford F-150. But FoMoCo things their poo dont stink, and their warranties SUCK!

MY ADVICE. Don't feel guilty, anxious, worried, ect...If mathematically and financially you can afford it then gracefully take and enjoy it, show it off, and love it. Me, you, and everyone else here is going to be dead one day sooner or later anyway. If you've worked hard and earned it then enjoy it. You can't take any of the money with you.
However; if you mathematically and financially can't afford it., then that's a different forum post :)

Affording it I am not worried about. Financed it in 2024 at 75500, and it will be paid off next month. House I paid off in November. I was worried financially, but had a slight windfall, and am going completely debt free.

I am more worried about whether or not Rivian will even exist in 2 years. I am hoping they are, I have way more invested in them than anything else in my stock portfolio.

Got my taxes done over the weekend, and filed for the $3750 Federal Credit, and the $5000 From Colorado. Everything shows that it should process thru once Colorado opens to Tax Returns.

Overall getting 11500 back in taxes. House is paid off already, Rivian is paid off, Credits Cards are paid off monthly. I just bought 2 sheds for my house, will have those paid off once the refunds come in.
