1) My R1 just stopped working, I was driving, tried to turn it on but it no longer works, what can I do to get it working? (aka the cry for help while omitting 90% of the info required to actually help.

2) I can't believe that Rivian would make a car that doesn't have X (which it has never had, is on record saying it doesn't have, and it never will have)
2b Why doesn't Rivian do X the way my other car does X because it is a so much better implementation? (aka change is bad)

3) I'm outta here (aka look at me one last time!)

4) I'm an expert in X and, therefore, I can tell you Rivian should have done it the way I would...followed by, 'well I'm also an expert in X and I can assure you that your approach would not work because of Y. Followed by, 'it's clear you don't really know anyting ahout X'. (aka the pedantic pissing match between two 'experts')

5) How do I do X or should I do Y or any of the other topics that are completely redundant (aka, I'm too lazy to use the search function) (closely related to this is the post that asks a question, which is answered two posts above)

6) I'm right and if I have to say it 100 times to get you to agree to it , I will (aka, beating a dead horse...or as I like to call it, the kid at the checkout counter that has learned if he whines long and loud enough his parent will ultimately give in and let him get that candy bar)

Off-topic posts. Why is this in the tires section? Go whine and cry in private

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.
These sorts of posts are the fingernails on the chalkboard for me. Here's a pro tip: you're free to ignore any post on this site that you don't like.
Exactly! The OP is complaining about other people complaining. Hypocrite much? If they don’t like a thread they shouldn’t click on it and start reading. Of course they have the right to complain or voice their opinion, just like everyone else.

This is actually the least contentious forum I frequent. And, as a general rule, I ignore the ignore feature (looks like I don't have anyone on ignore here). I'm too damn old to take anything too seriously. That said, I am a bit disappointed in some of the very predictable responses to what was intended to be a lighthearted thread. I was hoping for some off-the-wall originality.

I did give a thumbs up to @Hereforthesnacks response, (well played, my friend, well played).

I admit I'm a bit surprised I haven't received the 'Boomer!' response yet.

So you made this post because you needed attention? That's pretty pathetic.

The only part of the OP's post that resonated with me was his first point. I'm not a Rivian owner (yet) -- I'm patiently waiting for my R2 invitation to order -- so this point peaked my interest. Do Rivians truly "stop working" spontaneously often enough that this is a common thread in this forum??

False equivalence: “I knowingly bought a car from a new car company but I expect it to be exactly like, and have everything, a car from another that has had 10~100+ more years in business”

Math is hard: “I paid over $50k for a car and $13 a month to have it connected to the internet is a bridge too far (never mind already paying multitudes more for internet connection at home and for mobile phones)”

New things are very scary but I’m buying a new thing anyway: “CarPlay… blah blah blah”

Why even buy a different car if you just want the old one? “My Tesla… blah blah blah”

Idol worship and tiresome evangelism: “Elon is a saint and invented all things. And I’m going to tell you all about it even if no one asked (and that this isn’t a Tesla forum)… because that somehow makes me special and justifies my existence.”

Seriously? “That glass roof gets too hot (never mind the windshield every car has)”

ISO fortune teller: “When will I get my R_?” and “where’s my OTA?!” Rivian should make/sell tarot cards.

Hell f a first car and one should be so lucky: “OMG my car is leaking! (AC)” and “OMG these cool looking AT tires are noisy!”

Help me but don’t you dare help me: “I have a question… but I’m going to be combative and reject every answer/recommendation and everyone is a jerk”

If you’re not with me, then you’re against me: “You don’t agree with my complaint, therefore I’m going to be petty and call you a Rivian apologist (as if that solves the problem)”

No...

and yes.

Do they happen *often*? No.

But when they happen, they're a big deal to the person it happened to. Big enough that people are very likely to post about it. And since there are hundreds of thousands of Rivians on the road, having driven billions of miles; even one happening every 100 million miles driven will still mean a few such posts.
