Apparently the plastic plug for the 12v taps for starting a dead truck leads to the hinge area for the tailgate. That allows install without the cord just flapping around out back. Nifty!

Now someone needs to make a harness to add a wireless camera so you don't need to dedicate the center screen to showing the rear bumper camera when the rear window is blocked by the tent.

The light is really stupid, but wait...it doesn't force trailer mode on and disable the ADAS????

I made one myself. Took 3 tries. First two worked intermittently. Per Rivian mechanics, a lot of LED tailgate strips have too low electrical resistance and don’t work. On my third try i got a set of trailer lights and those worked.

No, accessory mode was changed a few updates ago. Presumably that change was partially motivated by this new product.

You could route your wires the way the manual shows for this new brake like, rather than dangle them over the tailgate.

Oooh, so you can lie, and keep your ADAS with a trailer. Use the external controller from Tekonsha if you need brakes. Nice.

They apparently pulled this from the gear shop for some reason. Both the combo and the light by itself. Gone.

Probably because of that one guy that complained the tent light being connected disabled his reversing sensors. Which has always been true, even before accessory mode.

Hopefully that means a software fix is coming for that though!

Interesting.. purchased the light but haven’t installed it. I guess I’ll find out this weekend if it breaks anything with the reversing sensors.

They've pulled this from the Gear Shop. My guess is that there was too many that were faulty. Sounded like maybe wired incorrectly because they were in an always on state - not with brakes. They've also pulled the R1T tent that had it included - probably for the same reason.

For just brake lights, I pulled the power from the third brake light on the R1T. I use it for the roof top tent, motorcycle carrier, and rear step bumper. I just plug in which ever I want with a connector I ran to the back near the hitch. Works great.

Have you had any issues with this disabling features (eg driver assistance, adaptive cruise, rear collision etc) - or can/do you just turn off towing mode?
