I got the 3rd one. Mid March 2026 reservation, near term expiring lease, and not a current owner.
Also less then 10 miles from a service center, Glen Burnie, MD but according to virginia_rivian, I'll have to go to Gaithersburg, 40+miles away. Which seems to align with trying to get a demo drive. Glen Burnie hasn't had any openings but Gaithersburg has. Definitely disappointing I have to go to Gaithersburg.

Another data point: Feb 10th, 2025 reservation, not a prior Rivian owner, ~65 miles from a service center in Rochester, NY. Got the "We'll let you know when you can expect your invite by the end of June" email.

Received same email, opted for not really on launch edition (performance) as I want Premium trim. Lease expiring in November and did upload it on website. April 2024 Reservation

Ordered 12:03 CST on 3/7/24, not a current Rivian owner, live 10 mins from a service center/demo. I got the we'll let you know by end of June when you can expect an order invite

Okay, excuse my ignorance when it comes to purchasing a Rivian as I'm not an owner yet. I placed my reservation in June of '24. Just out of curiosity why does proximity to a service center effect your invitation to order date?

The criteria that Rivian has mentioned publiclly is readable at R2 Launches June 9 by Rivian - Rivian Stories | Electric Vehicle Adventures. But there are for sure other factors that they take into account internally (how many they can get onto rail cars to get out to far-away locations, how quickly those get loaded on to car carrier trucks, just how busy the rail network is, etc). There's enough factors, in fact, that it's really a guessing game as to who they are extending order invites to and how quickly things will get to final delivery.

This reminds me a lot of the R1 release and Rivian doing a poor job of setting expectations and relatively poor communication.

They issued a launch date. They know their reservation backlog. They know their current production capability. Some sort of update should have been given to all reservation holders on day 1. (Not a 'we'll update you in a few weeks')

With that said, and speaking with our service center yesterday, while dropping off our R1, it sounds like certain areas will take priority over others. I found our out service center (Sterling, VA) can't do customer delivers. All deliveries in the DC area must go to Gaithersburg. That center is always at capacity. So we'll see how long this takes.

We've been through this before. I just thought Rivian would have gotten better at this.
They don't know their conversation rate yet. The random sampling they are doing will help them estimate it across their entire reservation list. Expected dates are coming out in just a couple weeks of this. So they in fact are getting better at it.

These are also the first of this new model so this could be that they are anticipated some little issues with the first batch and want it to not be some huge inconvenience for you to get it resolved. I had one of the first Model 3s and it had a dead usb port and the passenger side mirror had a loose connection.

Gotta say this "rollout" has been pretty disappointing from a buyers perspective, even with years of experience with Rivian. They have been somewhat more communicative but still much of the same old Rivian.

The "rando late adopter lottery" is probably most annoying, along with the hype around a June 9th launch event, to then receive an email saying that you'll find out "before the end of the month" and I now have the "opportunity" to drive roughly 3 hours to have a 30 minute test drive even though there's a service center 20 minutes away.

I sort of expected better from them by this point.

Is that service center also a demo center?

Good to see another Rochester, NY reservation holder. I have a day one reservation and have an R1T, no email to order yet (just the end of June one)... I imagine it has something to do with many less prospective buyers in our area....

I've saved a Premium configuration as Favorite to possibly ward off early LE invites - I wonder if that kind of connection is in place? I'm actually planning Performance but waiting for early-MY28, or whenever invited to order from there.
