This, Rivian is (imo) trying to maximize specs on R2 to increase demand while still (hopefully) having a profitable vehicle to create a larger customer base.

I wish I could find something that shows the depth of the color, the closest I can get is this showing a little bit of speckle and it’s on an R1. My wife and I are going to a service center this weekend to see the color sample in person so hopefully that helps.

In the 5 years i’ve had my 4runner I’ve probably used my rear wiper 3 or 4 times max. Pine needles are what i’d be most worried about but i’m sure someone will develop something in the aftermarket to address the issue.

Yeah, now I have to convince myself and my wife that we like the catalina or launch green. We’ve had our heart set on Borealis since unveiling day.

My guess is BFG had this in their pocket and approached Rivian to be their OE option with this new compound.

It’s a huge marketing L, people should be excited and able to confidently show people “This is the one i’m getting” instead of confused if they’re about to be nickel & dimed to death for the color they want (or if it’ll even be available)

The fact that we don’t have clarity on something as basic as this is a problem, but the general consensus is that Esker is free, everything else is an upcharge.

Advertising is also a marketing play, they have the reservations for initial interest and beyond their initial capacity, but “I saw this on the road” interest is hopefully something they aren’t dismissing because people turn their heads at unique colors, almost nobody turns for something black...
