95kwh w/ 87.9kwh usable equates to 7.5% buffer. So 75kwh battery could be 69.4kwh usable capacity using same buffer.

345miles/87.9kwh = 3.95 m/kwh (standard large rwd)
3.95 x 69.4kwh = 274 mile range

So it does math out almost exactly to their base model range est. They could pull a Tesla, which software locked Model Y in 2024 down to 260 miles...when it still had the long range 78kwh battery pack. Either way, I really don't see it being LFP. I feel like they won't spend loads of r&d into base model, when it could get axed prior to R3 launch. Similar to R1S standard.

Still a lower production volume compared to BMW and Volvo. Per unit manufacturing cost is still higher.
agree for now but by end 2027 they should be comparable. The cost of the paint should be pretty similar across the colors so not cost reason to charge thousands more.

Yah... should. But it boils down to what price they were able to negotiate with suppliers. And that's where brands with larger total order volume have more leverage. BMW isn't just one brand. And Volvo isn't just their passenger car business. They are also owned by a auto giant—Geely.

Wondering if it is just Autonomy+ or also adds Rivian charging network free period and/or Connectivity+ ?
Launch Edition only calls out Autonomy+, access to Launch Green color (still costs extra,) tow package, and the "Launch Key Fob" (unclear if it's just the green+yellow coloring on the key fob that's included, or that you get a key fob at all, and non-LE don't include any key fob.)

I really don't know what Rivian is planning, and I would have to read the fine print in the offer, but I can imagine that they can promise to update the autonomy+ software for free for the life of the vehicle, but if the vehicle lacks the Lidar hardware, the parts of the software stack that deal with the Lidar would be irrelevant, and the capabilities that Lidar enables would still be lacking regardless. Like, your laptop may run the latest OS, which might include subroutines for burning optical disks, but if your laptop doesn't have a disk drive, it still won't be able to read or write disks, even with the OS update.
Or, they could rename it something else when LiDAR comes out, then abandon "Autonomy+" the way they abandoned "Driver+" on the Gen 1 vehicles… (Maybe that's too cynical.)

One really minor and one more major question.

1. Does the frunk have a drain plug?
2. How is the shading on the panoramic roof? I would assume no chromatic shading option, but is it shaded glass in some way? I would also assume there's no physical pull shade.

Somewhere during the initial announcements a few months back RJ was saying it was tripled coated for all UVA/B/C/X and for energy/heat.. not sure how that works. Probably still need a liner insert at some point.

How much do you think the cloud white interior and 20” AT wheels/tires will cost as an upgrade?

That's not how I interpret what's included. To me, it means Launch Green is a free paint color option to go along with Esker Silver, but all other colors would be extra.

From Rivian's press release:

  • Exclusive option of Launch Green exterior color (paid upgrade)

So Esker Silver comes standard, and all Performance Trim colors, plus Launch Green are paid extras? Or is the Launch Green the only optional color for the Launch Edition to keep production simple?

Wow… if your only options are esker silver or Launch green for the LE, that’s a bit of a letdown. And no white interior option at launch? I’m fine with the black interior and launch green on the LE, but also lame that the paint is a paid upgrade

RivianTracker said all paint colors will be LE options.
