Noticed range on the "official" page for the base $45k model (that doesn't exist yet) was bumped to "275+ miles of estimated range" from the 265 that was listed in the leak yesterday. That puts it almost exactly on par with stated range of 274 miles for the Gen 1 R1S Quad on 20" wheels (note that the R2 mileage estimates are based on 19" wheels & there's a stated penalty of 23 miles for switching to 20" wheels on the R2 Performance model).

Very minor increase and probably means nothing since it's all "estimated" (and, again, because the model doesn't exist yet), but interesting nonetheless as that's the only notable difference I've found so far from yesterday's leak.

I still think the $45k model is never going to have mass appeal (and is not intended to have mass appeal), but if actual range bumps closer to 300 miles then I think it becomes a little more interesting for some folks.
Yes Range is similar but 40KWH less battery Fater charging stops and les $$ to accomplish the same distance. How do you not see that as better?

For wheels, if the 20 inch wheels are too much of a premium, I’ll just go with the 21 inches and sell them right away to go to a third-party wheel. That way I can get the exact set up I want for Overlanding. I’m hoping that these wheels are crossed compatible with R1. If so, I’m guessing there are some of those owners that would want the 21 inch performance wheel at a premium with no intentions of ever taking it off the asphalt. That should give me plenty of money to do a third-party wheel with all terrain tires. Should be pretty close to a wash.

I did something similar with my Tesla model Y performance. Sold my factory 21 inch wheels right away for $2000 and then got some great methods with falken wild peak tires. Major upgrade and made a little money.

I have been debating keeping my factory 20s from the R1T (since it came with 21s im putting back on) but the tire sizes don’t match and that irks my OCD.

Can’t you just put on a larger tire to match the outer diameter?

And get really really close, yeah.
Like I said, OCD, it’s not logical, it’s neurotic.
May still do it. May sell them and buy after market 20s instead, may just get Premium instead of LE/Performance. We’ll see what mood I’m in when orders open.

Assuming the new tire is slightly larger OD, your speedometer and odometer will read slightly low until the tread wears off a bit, when both the speedo and odo will be spot on, until the tread wears a bit more, when the speedo and odo will read a bit high. At least you will have a few miles where your CDO will be fully satisfied. (CDO is OCD properly alphabetized).

No they're not compatible with R1 as reported in this thread. They're 5x114.3 bolt pattern and the R1s are 5x139.7
R2 wheel sizes
Oh that’s awesome. That’s how much more common size. I’m glad they changed that. Does anybody know the stock offset?
