Learn more about the Evotrex-PG5

Towing with an electric truck creates an interesting paradox. Electric vehicles have become incredibly advanced — high horsepower, instant torque, connected, and massive battery capacity — yet once an RV trailer is attached, the experience is still dominated by familiar constraints: greatly reduced range, charging limitations, and the burden of energy planning.

That mismatch is exactly what led to the creation of Evotrex.

Welcome to Evotrex

We're reimaginging the outdoor lifestyle—intelligent, enjoyable, and without compromise. While mobility technology has evolved, off-grid living remains tethered to fragile infrastructure and power limitations. We're breaking that cycle by rethinking the relationship between technology and the wild. We deliver pioneering technology that takes you beyond electric. We enable true freedom.

Evotrex-PG5
Unlike traditional travel trailers that drain your range with drag and dead weight, the Evotrex-PG5 is an adventure powerhouse: the world's first power-generating RV. Equipped with an onboard EV battery and electric motor, the PG5 provides active torque assist while you tow. The integrated, automotive-grade generator replenishes the battery and delivers usable power on demand. The result? You can camp completely independent of campsite infrastructure for days, experiencing true freedom on your own terms with all the comforts of home.

Adventure powerhouse: up to 270 kWh of usable energy on a cycle.
  • Horizon™—onboard power generator (up to 225 kWh with 20 gal. of regular gasoline)
  • 43 kWh LFP battery pack
  • 1.5 kW integrated solar array over the rooftop
With that foundation, the PG5 supports capabilities including:
  • Active Power Assist when towing (torque assist)
  • RangeBoost™ V2V DC charging at up to 60 kW (via NACS port)
  • Home energy backup (up to 12 kW)
  • Air suspension & automotive-grade steel chassis
Camping at its best:
  • Fully-insulated shell and walls; zero-wood construction
  • Two residential queen beds
  • Basement-mounted HVAC system for optimal climate control
  • Full dry bath with instant hot water
  • Portable projector with wireless speakers
  • Chef's kitchen with two induction burners, a fridge w/ freezer, a range hood, and a generous working space
  • Utility bar: foldable camp table with water & power ports
  • Terrece™: motorized roofed patio extension (43 sqft)

Towing with electric trucks raises interesting engineering questions around energy, efficiency, and vehicle-trailer interaction. The PG5 is our attempt at exploring a different design approach. We strongly believe platforms like the PG5 benefit from open dialogue with technically curious owners.
We welcome technical questions, thoughtful suggestions, and discussions. If you’d like to interact directly with our team and early supporters:

Two questions:

1. Unless I can't read things correctly, I don't see the option to charge the HV pack ither than the panels or the gas generator. No DCFC or Level 2 (either J1772, CCS1 or NACS)?

2. Is there the ability to plug the trailer in at a campsite (either TT-30 or 14-50 plug)? That seems like such a little thing to not include.

Essentially, I'm trying to figure out why one would spend minimum $119k on a trailer that can't hook up at any of the thousands and thousands of camp sites around the country. Again, unless I'm missing something...

Thanks for the great questions. I’m glad you asked!

The Evotrex-PG5 comes equipped with a NACS charging port, allowing you to charge the HV pack at up to 6.6 kW.

When you’re at a campsite with electrical hookups, whether 30-amp or 50-amp service, you can also use the included mobile charger to plug in and top off your pack conveniently.

Thanks for the info things seemed unclear to me.

No DCFC though, correct?

Pretty interesting. Would be interested to see an option for a bunk and/or twin beds.

Correct. Just AC charging. The pack is 43 kWh, and the onboard generator is rated at 75 kW, so you’ll always arrive with a full pack under normal operation. If needed, you can turn on the generator to quickly recharge.

When parked, the generator can supply up to 20 kWh per hour to recharge the battery.

I think this is a nice approach. The other power assisted campers out there just double the charging problems on the road.

Still a few years out from being able to buy a camper of our own, but I love seeing these new EV-centric models coming out and hope to check them out in-person at an RV show someday. Best of luck with your products!

Not that I could, or am planning on purchasing this trailer (was seeking out info out of curiosity), but my thinking on camping is to reduce the amount of gas being burned. I still explore ways to replace the gas burning stove in my trailer with induction so that I could just get rid of the propane tank in mine!

As a kid all the time we spent camping got pretty decently ruined by hearing gas generators running nearly all the time. Heck, it's still happening now even with the camping my wife and I do being at sites with power. Not sure why people still use generators when the campground they are at has 50 amps available to them...

Sorry, got into a little bit of a rant there!

@evotrex, the trailer overall looks quite nice - would be interesting to see if you guys have plans for something a little bit smaller (maybe in the 18-20 ft total length area...)

We hear you! Our generator is very different from the traditional ones. It’s automotive-grade, way more efficient and quiet. It’s not designed to be running to power your trailer but to fast recharge the pack when needed (camping in remote locations). The onboard 43 kWh pack is sufficient for all the appliances so you don’t run the generator while camping.

We are going to a few shows this year and we look forward to meeting you!

Interested in seeing one in person, but I'm in NJ. Any plans to have one available to East Coast potential customers anytime soon? From the schedule, it looks like they are all West Coast shows unless I overlooked something.

Lots of nice design features for this RV. Can you estimate how long the engine would need to run to recharge the trailers batteries, either 0-100% or at least 10-80%?

Also, will there be any sort of dust shielding to keep the engine from total getting caked in dust on a gravel road? Looks like the air vent on the engine housing would allow a lot of dust to kick up in there?

Overall, nice job on the prototype design.
