  1. Steering wheel alignment menu?

Sorry if this is stating the obvious, but of course the majority of road surfaces slope to the right, so the vehicle is naturally going to drift right.
  2. The origins of the Rivian turn signal sound

I love my R1T (had it for 18 months) but the two things I don't like are the HVAC system and the turn signal sound. I liked the higher pitch wood sounds they had in the video before they lowered them. I find I avoid using the turn signal when stopped at a light to turn until I'm actually...
  3. My First Time Seeing The Rivian R2 @ Electrify Expo Orlando! Including Pictures!!

TigerEyeJazz, do you know if the wood-grain area on the front dash was real wood or a simulated wood (plastic)? Thanks for focusing in on some details of the vehicle. There are a lot of things I like about the design, but one thing I haven't heard anyone comment on is the flat area of the rear...
  4. Should I be worried about RJ? 👀

This thread has gone in several directions, but just to respond to the original post, R.J.'s wife appeared to be sitting in the front row with his father and three sons during the event.
  5. R2 "Self Driving" autonomous capabilities

I agree with MikeHMB that it's more comfortable to use where traffic is lighter. I have used Driver+ a lot on interstate driving, but often do temporarily disable when next to a semi-truck drifting in their lane. And I don't use it in heavy traffic, like others have mentioned. I have to say I...
  6. Over 68,000 R2 reservations in less than 24 hours so far

I hope they do a little marketing to help spread the word about the R2. Articles were showing up about the vehicle in the auto press but not much in the mainstream media. I imagine the vast majority of vehicle shoppers in the U.S. haven't heard of Rivian and especially don't know about the R2...
  7. 4695 Batteries + Structural Pack

On an Electrek website interview yesterday, RJ was asked about 400v vs 800v architecture for the R2. He didn't give a super clear answer but he immediately started talking about keeping costs down, so I took that to mean that they would likely stay with 400v unless there is a way that emerges...
  8. Why do you think Rivian moved the charging port on R2 & R3?

In an interview on the Electrek website, RJ said that besides backing in the big reason was cost savings. He said in the R1 platform since those vehicles all have a motor in front, there was already high voltage wiring to the front of the vehicle. But in the R2, with the rear motor option, some...
  9. R2 Reservations are open and it's FAST!

    Reserved!!!
  10. When might we expect SiriusXM? I really miss it!

I would love to have Sirius radio in my R!T. I don't have music loaded on my phone and rural areas aren't great for the regular radio or other streaming audio on the truck.
  11. RIVIAN | CARRY US - Short Film Video (Independent Ad)

I will be surprised if that is an official ad for Rivian. Doesn't fit with anything they've done previously about their vehicles.
  12. Should Rivian Follow Fisker to a Dealership Model?

Having just spent a few days trying to help my 90 year old mom trade in her 8 year old Honda CRV for a new CRV and all the run-around and double talk from the Honda dealer, having a Rivian dealer is a big NO from me. I much prefer the direct online sales model. They need more service centers...
  13. Rain water in gear tunnel

My guess is that the gear tunnel door was popped open slightly. Was a relative out looking at your truck that might have pushed the button, or maybe you set something on the button and didn't notice the door popped open slightly? I've never had any leaks in mind in some heavy rain.
  14. Problems problems, all these damn problems! Let's hear from those who've had little / no issues! 🗯️

13 months now, just over 10,000 miles, only one tiny problem was auto frunk hood didn't shut at one point. Switched it to manual, mobile service came by and fixed it. Otherwise, has run perfectly!
  15. Giving thanks for my Rivian R1T

I had meant to post this closer to Thanksgiving Day, but it's still Thanksgiving weekend, so here goes. I've had my Rivian R1T for a little over a year now and driven it a little over 10,000 miles, including a road trip from the Midwest to Virginia and some overnight trips in the Midwest. I...
  16. RJ Scaringe is taking over top product role. Nick Kalayjian transitioning out

I think this is a good thing. Having RJ lead product design, at least in the intermediate term, means that his vision will come to life in the nature of upcoming products, presumably the R2 being the immediate focus.
  17. Possible surge in Rivian demand with lower battery prices and arrival of R2

I was reading an article on the Electrek.com website this evening about how significantly battery prices are expected to decline in the next two years, to $99 per kw. Other automotive industry people have stated in the recent past that achieving that battery price level will make EVs price...
  18. Lucid Gravity Reveal

I saw the announcement from Lucid before I came here, and agree with many others that it's a strong competitor to the R1S. However, I also think it's not zero sum, I think there will be those who like a swooped styling and don't need off-road that go with Lucid, and others will prefer the R1S...
  19. Rivian Presents: Career Off-Roading | Episode 2 | Delivery

I agree with the comment about Rivian employees enjoying their job. Everyone I have dealt with at Rivian so far (maybe 7-8 people) has been super pleasant and seemed like they really valued working for the company. A rare experience in the automotive world!
  20. GQ Article-Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe on Ignoring Musk and Learning from Bezos

I have seen him give quite a bit of credit to his father in at least one other interview, including how his dad helped him with engineering and money.
