Here in Rhode Island, we have a similar program through a large government subcontractor, General Dynamics, that has partnered with local trade schools to bring people into the workforce. It's a model that works, and I am glad Rivian is adopting it for the Georgia plant!

Wasn't this a part of GA tax incentive deal?

I seem to recall that there was a commitment by Rivian to reinvest into the community for education and training..

As already noted, this type of arrangement is common. Whenever a large manufacturing plant is setup, regardless of the industry, there is almost always a commitment to train and educate the local population. Workers are needed to fill the plant. Not only companies are not transfer in all the workers, its usually a part of offset to the state who provides the tax credit.
