I also know younger people are more forgiving with the looks and actually think it's fairly sexy. Which means it will sell.
Millenial checking in who works with a lot of young millenials and gen z. The only people I know who like the CT design are tesla fanatics. Nobody I personally know likes it. Like... at all.

People may buy it because it's a Tesla, and a minority might like how it looks, but I'd be careful generalizing that younger people think it's "sexy".

This would be true if the base/cheapest model becomes widely available to all. If it doesn't, I do not see Ford selling exactly every New Lightning they make. I will admit they will sell a good majority of them.
I bet they'll widen up their packages in 2023 for the different battery sizes. Right now is about getting some 40k trucks out the and a shit ton of specced out Lariats and Platinum trucks.

Paper, vapor, and future-shaper are three different things. Like you, and most everyone here, I hope Tesla is able to deliver the performance they've talked about since the debut of the CT prototype. If they pull off delivering on their dream, it will rock the automotive world much more than it has already.

How will the actual vehicles compare to the prototype? I guess we'll see how all that plays out, along with the actual pricing for the various iterations. What will they charge to unlock power, range, driver-assist/FSD, and other goodies?

As strange and unappealing as the CyberTruck looks to me now, I'll be excited to see the real thing in the wild, one day. What's your over/under on when we might first catch a view of one of them in the hands of a civilian, rolling around our towns? Also, what's your best guess for the full, out-the-door price of an actual base model, no-extras "$40,000" CT?

I really do want the CT to be a success. I'm just skeptical that we'll see them anytime in the near future, and for the bold pricing we've heard about.

One thing about Elon, he always keeps it interesting and entertaining.
Tesla has met every one of their vehicle specs and then some. I'm not worried about Tesla.

I am worried about Rivians phantom drain and braking problems.

Well the thing with generalizing is it goes both ways, we all have our data sets.

You see, I too am a Millennial and yes only a few of my non-Tesla, non-EV driving Millenial friends like it.

Although, all of my younger Millenial cousins and all the Gen Z I've shown it to, including my kids, think it's the future and that's what they love about it.

I can't find a single person younger than me that simple *hates* it.

And only one of my older Gen Z friends like it.

None of my Boomer family like it.

Perhaps it's more where each of us live, not our generational data points which determines the acceptance of futuristic designs.

Are you basing this on something you’ve seen recently? On an actual customer machine? I guess I’ve missed this data.

CT design language appeals to kids. I agree. How many are Tesla likely to sell to this demographic?

Ford, Rivian, GM et al, with their slightly more conventional, yet still progressive styling, will appeal to a broader audience of people who can actually buy them.

I'm not worried about Tesla or Rivian. Both will work out any problems they may have. That will happen.

Regarding the options in front of us, I'm from the peak of the Boomers, and most all of my friends are like me, turned off by the looks of the CT. But as you pointed out, does it really matter? Tesla's not targeting me and my friends with that vehicle. If a younger crowd loves it, I hope they buy them in huge numbers.

My dream is that all of these electric "trucks" entice people to embrace going electric with their next vehicle, be it a truck, SUV, sedan, or whatever new rides may be coming down the pike. With all of the "Only %2 of all veh..... blah, blah, blah" stories I hear constantly from friends, haters, and the press, I want to see EV's really take hold. As RJ points out in his reasoning for leaving the Blue Sports Car behind and focusing on trucks and SUV's, replacing these bigger ICE-based burners will be much more impactful for our planet and us, than someone simply jumping from a Prius to a Model 3.

I'm glad that amongst the current offerings, you and I have found what we're looking for. I wish the same for all.

As always, "To each, their own."

Millennials and older Gen Z are not kids.

But thanks for infantilizing two whole generations.

The post by an employee of a R1T business owner, on this forum, that was later deleted for fear of being fired. The OP did not want their firing on his conscience.

Look, I want an R1S for sure. That why I candidly worry about new issues. Will Rivian succeed? Hell yes. Do I also think Tesla will succeed? Of course.

I'm all EV only here.

Uh, it's not out yet. But thanks for your example of a straw man argument.. I'll add to the FUD.
Uh, so when it eventually does come out, you think it'll actually fly?

Of course I want everyone to drive an EV, yes boomers need their Silverado's and F-150's. Glad you are not stereotypical enough to like the Rivian. ?

The SpaceX version? With all those cold air thrusters? That's the point of having them I suppose. Would I buy it? No. Will it exist, of course.
