Hey everyone, first time post here. I've had my 2025 R1T since 12/24, and have been extremely happy with it. The truck is unlike anything I have driven or could have imagined having at my disposal. Just an unbelievable vehicle!

A few weeks ago, I got the notice about the 12v battery and bracket replacement service and scheduled a mobile service. This week they came by and started the service. Turns out the battery is fine, but the bare metal bracket has been corroding in some vehicles so they have been proactively replacing to avoid any surprises. My bracket was of course fine, but they did the replacement anyway. Well, as you can see from the title, when they went to power everything back up, a Pyro Fuse blew, rendering the truck completely dead. A tow truck was dispatched and off she went to the Miami service center where she has been without an update for 3 full days. I've called twice with no update other than to say they are working on it, and later today to let me know that someone was currently updating my service ticket and they would leave a note to have Miami Service call me. Nothing yet, so I am hoping to get a call tomorrow.

Anyway, the reason for my post is to let you know that this can happen (mobile service tech said it was his first, but other techs have had this happen). Given that, if I had to do it over, I would have punted on the service, and waited while my truck had to go in for something else to the service center. Second, does anyone know how complicated this Pyro Fuse replacement is? Is it lift a panel and plug in a new fuse, or disassemble the entire dash? Any insight would be appreciated! I can't wait to get her back!

Thanks for the link! I think mine was the HV Pyro Fuse based on the fact that the tow truck driver was able to jump the 12v system through the wires by the hitch, so we could open the doors and "try" to put the truck into N. FYI, we never were able to get it into N even after putting it in car wash mode.

Ah ok. That one is a little more mysterious. This thread has some info but definitely sounds like a bigger job than the one under the dash.

Hopefully they get you an update soon!

So, today marks 2 weeks that my R1T has been at the service center! No disrespect to those that may drive a Mazda CX-5, but I am sick of my rental car and want my truck back! Seriously though, I can't believe this is taking so long. Last week's update seemed to indicate that only their HV specialist could do the required diagnosis and repair. They also stated that I should have it back "this week". Fingers crossed. Please send good vibes!

Just an update that my truck was in for a total of 3 weeks. I commend Rivian for a strong finish and improved communication towards the end. As it turns out, the Miami facility was swamped and they had flown in service personnel from other facilities to help them work through the backlog. My service adviser at the end was actually in from New York.

The postmortem on my repair is that the mobile tech did not follow proper procedures when replacing the 12v battery and bracket, and did the equivalent of yanking a server plug out of the wall instead of going through the proper shutdown procedure for the HV battery. This is what caused the pyrofuse to blow. Also, if Rivian had communicated better from the start, you probably would have never seen a thread from me. Improved communication is critical. Keep it real and let us know what is going on. Explain in detail and we're probably going to be much more understanding.

Anyway, all is good now and I'm back in love with my Rivian. Six years in, I think we are still somewhat early adopters and I think its only going to get better from here. My read is that they have done a great job selling these vehicles with their new sales centers in Aventura & Brickel as well as their pop ups, but the service and delivery infrastructure has not yet caught up. That apparently is changing as the tech that I spoke to said they are starting to hire for a new service facility in Miramar. Fingers crossed!

By the way, I don't think this experience is any worse than it is for any other brand. I had plenty of issues with one of my local Ford service centers related to a 6 month long delay on a national backorder for a broken intake manifold. I don't miss those days!

Makes no sense to punt the service bulletin and risk dead 12v and bricked car, over a small probability of this happening. You have a warranty for a reason.

Agree. I understand that now once the tech explained that there are proper procedures in place to prevent this and that the mobile tech just didn't follow those procedures.:like:
