So at what mileage did everyone ditch these 20" inch Pirellis?

Just curious if anyone else ditched these horrendously loud tires early? I’m at 11,500 miles on them and just can’t take it anymore! I’ve narrowed my replacement to the Goodyears or the Toyos I think….

UPDATE!:
Just got back from Discount. Decided on the Michelin defenders. And holy smokes just from my drive home the difference is night and day. Like crazy night and day. Thanks to all for all the opinions and experiences!!!

I bought my truck with just under 15k, and didn't like the tires at all. I finally dumped them at about 17k, very soon after. I bought the Nitto Grappler Recon in 116T (softer), and like them a lot. I sold my used ones for $300.

I didn't need off-road tires, so I swapped mine for some Michelin Defender LTX in the same size before 200 miles. I sold the almost-new oems for $1200. (This was over 2 years ago).

I immediately noticed a better ride and less noise. And they wear very slowly. But their grip isn't great if you like full-throttle acceleration. (I don't remember how the oems were in that regard).

I'm at 14K miles and still on stock 21" Pirellis. Are the 20" Pirellis significantly louder than the 21"s? I've not really felt like things were too loud for me, though the handling isn't the best. I plan to change when the remaining tread warrants it. I've got a set of 20" RAM 1500 wheels ready and waiting for some winter tires, too.

Yeah I’d go with that defender in a heartbeat, but I do some trails and such so I need a little bit of an AT tire

If I wanted a street truck tire, I would 100% go with the Michelin Defender LTX every time. Best tire I had on a truck, ever (but it was street only).

I can't pretend to know what you do, but a friend took his Ram 2500 2WD on Schnebly Hill on those tires. Most tires do much more than you expect, particularly if you air down a bit.

22k and swapped them out for the Wrangler ATs that come stock on the newer models. I could have gone further but the noise was deafening and we had a long trip coming up. The noise improvement was greatly appreciated.

That’s pretty impressive! Schnebbly is a rocky mess. Hate that road lol

So would you say the noise difference is substantial? You are happy with it?

No noise problem either.
My dad made fun of me for complaining of tire noise long ago. A few months later he finally got hearing aids.

A little old lady goes to the doctor and says, “Doctor, I have a terrible problem with gas, but it doesn’t bother me much.”

My farts are always silent and never smell. I probably farted 15 times since I’ve been here, and you didn’t realize it.

The doctor says, “Interesting. Why don’t you take these pills and come see me in a week?”

The old lady returns in a week and says, “I don’t know what the hell you gave me. My farts are still silent, but my God, they stink!!”

The doctor says, “Excellent. Now that your sinuses are cleared, let’s work on your hearing.”

Same, not one of the fun ones IMO. But he aired down, and was ok, just slow going. So my thought is to not exclude that tire for light fire road and minor trails.

I've got almost 38K on my OEM Pirelli's and, while they're a little noisy, nothing we can't live with until I replace them with the Toyo's.

Substantially better, yes, and very happy so far (3k miles or so). I used to hear people complain about the pirelli noise and thought they were crazy, then I hit around 10k miles or so and it just kept getting louder and louder.

Is that supposed to be a joke? Because it sounds like not only are you calling me a liar but also telling me I need to get my hearing checked because I'm obviously wrong.

Or is *your* experience the only valid point of view allowed?
