Nope. Is that required in this build to get OP Long?
It is required for the main branch of Sunnypilot, but you can use OP Long with onscreen buttons using one of the xnor-tech UI branches like xnor-tech/sunny-mads-buttons-ui

I would highly recommend it. It does involve routing the extra USB-C cable, but it makes everything so much more intuitive and seamless. It just makes highway and city driving more relaxing.
finally ordered mine a couple days ago

Hello. Just installed my Comma 3x and definitely think it’s superior to Driver+.

I have a few noob questions. I’m on Sunnypilot/staging-c3-new

1. Is slowing down for curves only in experimental mode?
2. Does it always stop very far back from cars at stop lights?
3. What settings do I want? Experimental mode does seems herky jerky… so i see why a lot of people say turn it off… should I have dynamic experimental mode on? What other settings do I want on?
4. I’m on WD40 is this generally the best model for Rivian?
5. How can I put it in Chill Mode from Driving Mode is just letting it sit for a minute the only way?
6. What are some other noob things I need to know?

1. I've had it slow down for curves for me while in normal OP Long operation, but I don't know if it's actually a feature or not, or it was doing it for some other reason.
2. That's a common complain which is why I use MADS mode for local traffic 95% of the time.
3. Don't use Experimental Mode or Dynamic Experimental. They're not ready for prime time yet.
4. Driving Model is so subjective. Some people swear by Duck Amigo, others prefer Tomb Raider 7. I'm on Tomb Raider 10 and I'm liking it so far.
5. I'm not sure I understand this question. What exactly are you trying to do? You may be wanting "Offroad Mode" in the Device menu.
6. Get familiar with MADS mode, and let us know if you have any other questions!

Just posted a new YT video talking about Openpilot Driving Models, but more importantly, I'm giving away that Hansshow wireless charger. If you want to enter for a chance to win it, just comment and subscribe. I'll be giving it away on livestream on July 31st.

That video will be so useful if I ever get to reinstall the Comma. Currently chasing down a seemingly random AC problem so I don't want to install any mods until we solve that.

That fish's expression is exactly how I feel about the whole thing.

On a related topic, who else is using the upgrade harness and the included USB cord? I find that it's so thin, it falls out of the channel around the windscreen. I haven't fully removed the trim to see how to attach it. I'm thinking about just buying another thicker version. And I need to get a magnetic USB-C adapter, I think this is the recommended one? Might as well stack up parts while I have to delay.

But wonder if straight might be better?

I haven't had any issues of it coming out of the channel, but it's stuffed in there pretty good with the other cable.

The first magnetic adapter is the one I use. I like it because the round orientation gives a little more freedom to align it when putting it back up on the windshield, and the 90-degree angle provides a little more space between the comma and the windshield, but I don't see any reason why the second one wouldn't work.

You could try one of these too, to get an angle that gives you some more space to work with, rather than having the cord come out towards the windshield:

I had the same issue. I solved it by using some electrical tape to wrap the 2 together. I tried removing the rearview mirror cover but that sucker is immovable. I tugged and tugged but I guess I’m just not strong enough 😔

I've had it off, and it's permanently loose now after my second time. My issue has been on the rest of the trim, but the tape is a good idea. If I use cloth friction tape, even better.

I think I just stuffed the fat cord after the skinny one, so the skinny one hasn't fallen out yet.

5. I'm not sure I understand this question. What exactly are you trying to do? You may be wanting "Offroad Mode" in the Device menu.
What does the "Offroad Mode" do?

I can see the button in the Menu, but didn't understand what the purpose was.

Also, does anyone know how dashcam functinoality works:
a) when does it upload the files?
b) how do I access them?

[Running Comma 3x with SunnyPilot/staging-c3-new + Luke longitunal kit]

p.s., just got the system installed, and initial reactions were:
1) Installing this is a pain in the ass [but can be done if not mobility impaired and committed to getting it done]
2) the software stack is very confusing to understand -- wish there was a clear "manual" to read/understand how this stuff works
3) Initial impressions on the driving are very positive!

Seems like Offroad Mode bypasses (allowing stock ACC and HWA) the system while keeping it powered on.

Congrats on getting it up and running! So, the Offroad terminology is a bit confusing, especially for us Rivian owners who have a very specific idea of what Offroad means.

Basically, in the context of openpilot, Offroad means not driving. It just puts the Comma in a state where it thinks you're not on the road driving - thus Offroad.

If you want access to your files the easiest way is to get your Connect.comma.ai account set up. You can upload your logs and videos to connect, then share or download them. And you can also use them to generate clips with the UI overlay like this:

Honestly it's not great as a dashcam, but it can get the job done in a pinch.
