Man posting was a big mistake. I know of no one else who has tried both. You are in for a ton of questions.
Hahahah this was my response to his post too. I was like, poor guy.

Understanding that your deposit is in on the S, which did you like more? All things being equal.
Every Rivian that I actually rode in had wires strewn across the dash , a big yellow block with a stop button in the center console, caution sticker in the back window and was heavily camouflaged. They were far from being polished vehicles. My understanding is, that he brings them home for weekend testing. Once I saw him getting the kitchen set ready for a trip to the desert and a few other times it was testing of the tent setup. The ones that are probably final products were assembly line rejections (I think). Something about being rejected for fit/finish, so they are being used for employee testing. I could be totally wrong, but that was the impression I was given. I'm kind of one of those Android guys over Iphone, so it is very easy for me to pick a Rivian over a Tesla. The car purchase itself is months of trying to convince my wife that she needs an electric car, since I'm not due for a replacement for my truck for another years. We figured waiting 1 to 1-1/2 years for my wifes Flex replacement would be right in the time frame we had in mind.

I don't think I answered the question above, but to be honest, I didn't know much about the Rivians when I first started talking to my nieghbor about them. I knew I didn't like Tesla (I do own some stock). I'll try to get more info as I see him bring different cars home.

For some reason I didn't take very many pictures, but I did find these on my phone. One has my daughter in the tent and the other posing by the first one we ever saw in person

Ehh. I can earn guaranteed 7.13% return on investment right now. There is no way Rivian is paying me 7% to give them a loan (reservation).

I say this as a reservation holder who has lent money to a business that cannot deliver the product...for months or even years.

Is it a no brainer? Some people think I'm crazy...giving out a free loan like that...

We also ordered an RS1 a few days ago. I have a close neighbor who works at the Irvine facility and regularly brings an RT1 or RS1 home with him for long term testing. I've had the pleasure of riding in both, maybe even drove a lap around the neighborhood circle. I'll tell you, the Rivian's are amazing and probably worth the wait. A fully refundable deposit makes it a no brainer.

This is money that was in a savings account that wasn't going to make money anyway just sitting there. The alternative you speak of is possibly making $105 dollars over a year in a half, with no reservation and no chance on getting one. If and when the Rivian is available like a Tesla, it will be way more than $105 over what the current price is.

I'm not saying you are wrong, because you aren't. I just want a Rivian more than I want $105.00.

Rivian was producing 15 a day (assuming a 7 day work week 104/7) for the last week of October per the last amendment of the S1. They certainly haven’t gone down in production rate in the last month and a half.
We will have a new production rate on the 16th with their quarterly results.
I wonder if RJ will sleep on a cot/sofa on the factory floor to address production problems like some other CEO?

If you think he hasn't already, then you have never met a single head of a single company ever in history. When you are at the top of a company, no matter the size, it is your life. If it is dying, so are you, figuratively.

Haha, I was thinking the same. Until now guarantees were reserved for death, taxes and waiting for our Rivians. Now 7%+ returns - so glad I joined the Forum!

Highly doubt your vehicle will be in your driveway in 2022. Also the option for break calibers is yellow or yellow.... But I am sure you can try yellow
I heard YELLOW looked rad

I present to you, guaranteed 7.12% return on US government bonds. You guys think I BS on this forum - with my 2024 delivery dates, and 7%+ returns on investment; but all of these things are backed up with data. I don’t live in the clouds, or fantasyland; ain’t no time for that.

The Secret Is Out on 7.12% Inflation-Protected Bonds

Yep 7.12% guaranteed for a whole 6 months. Then the rate resets. The fixed portion of the rate is still 0.00% so your returns are up to inflation.
