Sadly, I just canceled too (for the R1T Max Pack). I received my deposit of $1000 back this weekend. I placed a reservation in April 2019.
They could not give me any definite answer as to whether or not they would ever produce the 400 mile range version. It is "projected" to be mid-2024...
I have a Max Pack reservation from April 1, 2019. So I have a grandfathered price, while I wait.
I would cancel the reservation if I have to pay $90,000.
I have driven the R1T, and have been a fan since 2019, but for $90,000 I would really, really pause about paying that much. In fact, I...
Based on replies, I am worried about Rivian making it.
The R1T is a very nice truck, but the new price sounds to be a NO for a lot of people.
Sales could really struggle in the new economy, i.e. shrinking stock market, recession.
The company can't survive selling only 50,000 trucks a year...
When RJ promised the Max Pack as the first Rivian to be sold in 2018, didn't they have the basic engineering done on accomplishing 400 miles of range?
What is the reason for the delay this time? A 314 mile range Rivian should be identical to a 400 mile Rivian...same headliners, same doors...
There can't be that many Max Pack preorder holders, with original pricing.
Some have switched to a large pack. Some dropped completely.
Some will have moved onto the big electric gate in the sky by the time the go into production.
So, maintaining the original pricing for those few thousand...
I hope, hope they test the hell out of their Rivian built electric motors. They can't afford to have issues with them after say 2 or 3 years. Honda for example built a fantastic reputation that their motors lasted and lasted. It built a loyal base of customers because the engines were...
I have no problem with Bosch making the electric motors.
(see the recent MUNRO LIVE breakdown of the Rivian electric motors...they were impressed with some of the design elements)
And I have no problem with Samsung making the batteries.
Both Bosch and Samsung are good at what they do, and have...
"working on" or have in production?
Also, as far as I know, Bosch still makes their electric motors, and Samsung the batteries. As of today.
YES, Rivian is making plans to eventually make their own batteries "in house", and plan to go to LFPs. Although, I hope it is not at their proposed...
Can't blame you for being miffed. I am too.
As far as new tech in a 2024 Rivian R1T Max Pack, I doubt it. They have only made 15,000-20,000 vehicles in their whole history. They probably need to make another 50,000 vehicles before they invest in new engineering and new manufacturing...
As a Max Pack preorder holder since March 2019, I agree.
I really do wonder if they will ever build it.
And, let's say they do deliver it in April 2024. I will have waited 5 years! I must be nuts.
Well, time to go look for a clean used ICE pickup this weekend, no sense trying to nurse...
