I did about 6 hours driving on I5 . It took at least a full hour for me to stop hovering my hands on steering wheel. What a gem this is. It makes driving so much easier. I got a little worried when overtaking the bigger trucks though. I normally like to give them a little more room . Overall it makes those long drives much easier .

Agreed. I use it almost the whole way between Keizer, OR and Seattle, then back when I drive up there to visit my son.

I find using the right thumb wheel to adjust the following distance to be helpful dealing with the big rigs.

I find it reminds me to put my hands on the wheel after a while, so I definitely could not go even one hour without participating. I wonder if that is because it thinks I am not watching the road. But even when I am, it tells me to put my hands on the wheel. Maybe my sunglasses?

Highway assist works great. I use it every time I'm on the freeways, especially in bumper to bumper traffic.

Only minor gripe is the car centers itself, but when I'm in the carpool lane, I like to hug the left side so motorcyclists can split lanes. I find myself continuously moving to the left (disengaging highway assist) when I see a motorcycle coming and then re-engaging the system after it passes.

I use the hands free function to reduce fatigue on long trips. My only personal sort of gripe is I grew up in a generation where I really only look forward about 60-70% of the time. The rest of the time I’m looking at all my mirrors and side windows for other cars, people, road conditions, emergency vehicles etc. My Rivian keeps barking at me about eyes straight forward. My solution is to hand a finger or 2 off the wheel. It’s comfortable for me as I tend to fidget anyway.

Where I live and drive, I rarely have the opportunity to try this self driving feature out. Having said that, a while back I was driving a section of divided, multi-lane highway that provided that opportunity. It was interesting. However, while passing a semi, it sure seemed to be a tad to close and definitely had me reaching for the steering wheel. Dunno if I was over reacting or imagining that I was closer than normal, but it sure got my attention.

As mentioned above, whenever I look away to view mirrors or even glance at the clock, the system prompts me to keep eyes on the road.

I like using this feature as well. Does anyone experience directly after engaging the assist the car being a bit slow to stay in lanes and drift across a bit before correcting? Seems to happen only for a min or two after engagement….

Today I overtook a semi and it seemed better.

I noticed if I touch the steering wheel when looking away helped .

I tried overtaking a semi today and it seemed better today . However I still have my hands on that wheel , overtaking.

If I keep a finger on the wheel the truck will ignore the fact I am not paying attention. If I release the wheel, it gets very sensitive regarding where I am looking.
