I think forums typically skew peoples thinking because of the number of issues posted. If it is working good no one posts about it.
This could be. But on other hand, if the cars were reliable we also wouldn’t get these accounts. Surveys show Rivian quality is poor. I personally have had three and all three have had issues of one kind or another. Lots of them.

I mean, you already know all the options or else you wouldn't be posting here. Personally if it were me, and I *had to* replace with something else, I'd be looking at the SIerra EV or the Lightning. Or wait for the Scout. But 99/100 I'd get another Rivian. Good luck with whatever you decide.

There are few choices out there that I'd consider.

ICE:
Wagoner Overland Edition
Defender 110/130
Range Rover PHEV or Sport
Audi Q8/Q7
Porsche Cayenne
BMW XM (I hear you can get a really, really good deal for one now)
Volvo XC90

BEV:
Gravity
MB-G EQ (wait for it)
MB EQS/EQE
BMW IX
Volvo EX-90
Porsche Macan

And if you really want to move up, there are Aston Martin DBX707, Lambo Urus, Ferrari Purosangue.

Edit: forgot to include Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo (wagon)

I’m also open to going back to ICE. Just not sure where to land since I’d planned on being in this truck for a very long time.
I mean if you want an ICE SUV that will forever, you get a Highlander or Pilot. Awesome tech and the Highlander hybrid has great mileage.

If you want an EV, test drive the EV9. I bet you come away very impressed with the one nit being the software.

I would look at the Audi eTron line. They have some really good options that would allow you to stay within the EV world. I love my Q5.

Some of the suggestions on here are not going to help. Porsche, Audi, Hummer EV? Have you been to those forums and seen reliability issues?

OP, Rivian took care of you surprised not considering an R1S. Both of R1’s have over 40k combined and only one service visit to my garage in 4 years of combined ownership. You got a bad one, unfortunately it happens.

I would consider an EV9 or the Volvo EX90 (which finally got mentioned 34 posts in by @mkg3) if you want three row seating both have an 6 passenger captains chair option for the second row. If my EB raffle ticket came in a winner I would have loaded up an EX90 to replace a family members Model Y (sadly not a winner this year).

My R1T is a ‘22. The fact that they’re buying it back surprised me but also tells me what the truck has put me through isn’t typical… but I can’t/wont get bitten twice
I get it; you're between a rock and a hard place. If you get another Rivian and it's messed up, you'll be Hulk-level angry. If you get something else that isn't as good you'll be pissy the entire time you have it because you'll be confronted by its shortcomings. My opinion is colored by the fact that my two Rivians have been reliable, so it's easier for me to say.

I would be more upset by the slow burn of a poorer performing vehicle than I would be by the service of my Rivian, but that's because I cannot stand slow cars or cars that aren't comfortable or easy to use. Rivian is the only one that strikes that balance for me right now in the size vehicle that I need.

It’s a tough call without knowing all the must-haves on your list. If staying in the EV world is the main goal—and you’re not set on having 800+ hp or serious off-road capability—I’d lean toward a one-year-old EV9. Solid value, great tech, and more practical for everyday use.

As for the Lucid Gravity, unless you’re living in Casa Grande, AZ (where they’re built), I’d steer clear. Lucid’s long-term outlook doesn’t inspire much confidence. That said, the BMW iX is a strong contender and worth a serious look.

I understand Rivian is no longer in the mix—that’s unfortunate, but totally understandable. The right vehicle has to fit both your needs and timing.

Best of luck in your EV search! Hope you find something that checks all the boxes.

Thank you for entering! This year's EV Raffle winner actually chose a Tri-Max R1T: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/...any-ev-before-they-sell-out.39441/post-752629

I saw a nice review of the EX90 by Marques Brownlee (), but something about the exterior just feels kind of robotic and boring to me, I don't know why. I'm very happy with my 2023 R1S but I know OP doesn't want to continue with Rivian.

Hey!
I’ve lurked here for many years, but my time with Rivian is coming to an a sad but optimistic end.

After 11 different trips to the service center and over 4 months of SC stays, Rivian is buying back my R1T. I can’t trust it anymore. I still love the thing but I won’t be holding the bag when the warranty is up.

looking for an SUV- anyone like me who has made the jump, or if you HAD to jump….In which vehicle would you land? Don’t say Tesla.
I had a similar situation with my Launch Edition Gen1 R1T. I ended up purchasing a Gen 2 tri motor last month. So far so good. Besides a slightly misaligned gear door and a passenger door rattle on the interior (both which I have a service appointment to fix) this vehicle has been great. Glad I decided to stay with Rivian.

Have been in a similar situation with Hyundai and my wife is a 'never again' for Hyundai/Kia due to that.

If you don't have any of those feelings, then R1S is the answer.

If not, you do have good options. Check out the Lucid Gravity as well, looks and feels different for sure. or the EscaladIQ.

Thinking more about it, if I had to switch to something else and another Rivian wasn't an option, a DBX707 would be the only thing I'd look at. The only problem with that is if price is a concern.
