Probably not if the temp didn't get below 60. I've gotten in my R1 and had the battery temp lower than that, in the 30's a few times.
I am thinking it must be Gear Guard. I am still figuring out how that works, but it is off at home and I have zero wakes at home. It is also warmer in my garage, though.

It's funny how we all react differently to these issues. I had many of the same when I got my Launch edition. But I loved the truck so much that I could look past most of them. I knew that it was a new company trying to make a great product and that there would be some headaches. I was able to fix most of the issues either myself or through mobile service. The company is still new, struggling to make it and will need to work to deliver more "perfect" vehicles and provide a better service experience if they want to survive. They are moving in the right direction. But I do not think they are ready yet for the folks expecting golden glove treatment and a vehicle without some issue (major or minor).

These are complicated computers posing as cars with a lot of moving parts and pieces to them. Manufacturing deviances and defects are a part of the process for EVERY new car out there. Rivian as a new company that's new to manufacturing likely has a higher share of these issues. That's why there's this fancy concept of a new car warranty. Every new car I've ever owned has had its share of issues and I figure it's part of the process and the manufacturer should be allowed the opportunity to make it right. When I got the R1T I discovered about 8-10 things that were ultimately fixed at my first service appointment. If you buy the car, give the manufacturer a chance to fix it - bitching on the internet does not do that.

That being said, service wait times with Rivian are an issue that the company knows about and are working to address. Again, this is a new car company with new products and it's part of the process. At this point if you didn't know this before purchase, then you are an uninformed buyer and that's on you.

If you REALLY can't wait for Rivian to fix these issues, then sell it and move on. Again, bitching on the internet doesn't resolve this issue.

Loud blower motor, air compressor on all the time, alignment off, steering shakes (not lane departure related), paint flaw / body damage, trim not flush, door panel rattling, wind noise from roof, and can’t get service for 3 months.

for the price of ownership, I’m not impressed.
Welcome aboard, you got a normal one.

The problem that they are ready for EV truck enthusiasts , not average buyer that spend 80k+ on a car and expect BMW quality. And on top of this 2 months waiting time for SC.

I think most of the people will tolerate issues if SC waiting time is solved. But now we have additional problem (on top of waiting for appointment) - parts shortage. It reminds me Tesla in 2019. Same issues. But would expect Rivian to learn from others mistakes.

I've had really terrible steering wheel shake with 21s and 20s. Road force Balance. Then road force balance and then make em do it again . I've stood over the shoulder of the guys at discount tire to re run em after they say they're perfect and sure enough the machine will come back with a new result. Sometimes they're off an oz sometimes its more but don't give up. I can now go 85 mph with ko3s with zero shake. Don't know why but rivians have no tolerance

Rivian didn't make me finalize my paperwork on my purchase last week until after I had a chance to inspect and ask about everything. Guaranteed the OP got that chance too, they just weren't prepared or were overly excited about it.

I've looked for their post from two weeks ago, asking what to look out for at delivery. I can't find it.
I think this varies by service center - we had to accept delivery before we were allowed in our R1S or R1T we picked up at our local one. Whereas for the R1T we got at another SC we were able to do a full inspection before doing paperwork.

Given some of the responses, I can see why. At the same time, they could have provided an update in support of their issues.

I think the way they designed the steering is the reason. They also do not provide any steering profile selection (like comfort, sport, etc).

Wow, you guys are brutal to fellow owners.

For the record, I had to sign the paperwork for delivery before I was able to view the vehicle. I also had to hand over a check and in my state, there is no cooling off period. Meaning, I can’t walk back in and demand a refund.

I also don’t sit in my living room waiting for a response to my OP.

As far as driving the vehicle before purchase, well that wasn’t an option I was presented with.

Paint and body damage wasn’t like looking at a wrecked vehicle and to be honest, at $115k, the R1S should have been beyond flawless way before I ever laid eyes on it.

Runs in the paint, body panels not gapped, trim not flush, etc… is what you get with a Kia or Hyundai for half the price.

The suspension air compressor running for 15-20 mins is one thing. The climate control motor loud enough, and vibration strong enough to shake the steering wheel in the driveway is something else.

The alignment and wheel balance issues, among the rest are just poor qc. How many of you can turn full lock, let go of the wheel and do circles without touching the steering? I can.

For the comment about selling at 50% what I paid, you must be a democrat socialist. How about I just give you cash and you go away? 50k feels about right, or should I just pay you depending on your level of hatred for Trump?

I hope none of you ever say a bad word about a product you purchased that didn’t live up to expectations. Because if you do, you’re hypocrites.

Considering how welcome this forum is, it’s a wonder why Rivian deliveries were much lower than expected. Outside of a few users here who are empathic to my experience, the rest of you are sheep who think Rivian can do no wrong.

had I known if all the shortcomings, the 3 month wait for service, the attitude of fellow owners, the self righteousness, I never would have supported the brand.

I wish all new owners would read this thread and glean from my experience.

Don’t sign until you’ve seen and driven your vehicle.
Don’t sign if they won’t let you inspect your new vehicle.
Don’t let your advisor rush you through the delivery process.
Scrutinize every single flaw. Paint, trim, panel gaps, plastic panels, buttons, window motors, blowers, compressors, and everything in between
Turn the radio off and listen for rattles and wind noise.
Ask about service wait times.
Ask about parts availability.
Ask about a loaner vehicle while your vehicle is in service.

Do NOT settle!!! This is a premium price
DO NOT be afraid to WALK AWAY

There are some very protective people about the brand here and also on the Tesla forums. I don't know if they are investors or what.

I felt like you seemed to have a few times on the Tesla forum when I called the baby ugly. I too am in a state where I had to pay for my car even before I got it. Sending a check to Tesla for $100k+ 3 years ago was a huge leap of faith.

Whether. you have 5 post or 5k, your experience if your experience. Sure there are some trolls everywhere, but it seemed entirely believable to me.

Manufacturers don't always get it right. I worked for 2 that are household names and my first job with one of them before I got into engineering was having to adjudicate warranty claims. I could right a book on some of the issues I saw but rarely did I see the QC issues I've seen with Tesla or Rivian. I still can't believe how misaligned my windshield is. A part of me keeps hoping a big rock will hit it so it can be put back in properly... I thought about having the local safelite glass pull it and reset it but then I'd have to worry about leakage.

I hope you get things sorted. There are many great things about Rivians, but they still have a ways to go in some areas. It isn't easy getting a new car company off the ground. I will say that everyone who says they are doing better than Tesla at this point in the business, so what?

You would think Rivian would be doing better at this point in its growth. They had a huge advantage of seeing, copying, hopefully learning from how Tesla did things, not to mention probably pinching some of their people. It is much harder to be the pathfinder than to follow in someone else's footsteps.
