Let's cut the OP some slack. It wasn't his first post. Maybe he didn't know that Rivian's QC could be so spotty.

I almost never took a checklist to buy a car until I bought my Teslas. I probably bought over 100 cars/trucks and never needed to. I did on some classic cars. I can't remember the last new car before a Tesla that I took a checklist to make sure it had no significant issues.

Typically a walkaround was sufficient. Sometimes you don't catch things during that walkaround.

Also we shouldn't assume that someone is here diligent reading all the posts to see how bad the QC can be or what issues you really need to be aware of. Some people have lives filled with things other than obsessing over cars/trucks.

I looked through some of the OP's posts and they don't like a one and done, overly negative poster. I can understand that some people drop in to crap all over Rivian. Even if they are a 1 and done, some of the commentary still may be warranted.

If we treat most people like I've seen with this person, why would anyone post here?

I've been here about 6 months, and I think this forum is less friendly overall than it was when I joined. We need to welcome people, even if we disagree with them, rather than drive them away. Lots of people may be lurking and be reluctant to join as a result. Even if I don't agree with someone, I still give them the benefit of the doubt.

If this were someone's first post, I'd definitely be less tolerant, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

You are 100% correct. , btw, the last delivery numbers speak for themselves.
IMHO, QC and SC waiting time will bring this company to the end if nothing will change. And it is very sad.

Loud blower motor, air compressor on all the time, alignment off, steering shakes (not lane departure related), paint flaw / body damage, trim not flush, door panel rattling, wind noise from roof, and can’t get service for 3 months.

for the price of ownership, I’m not impressed.
That all sounds like "you got a lemon" than "normal Rivian". I would have refused delivery. (Of note - in my delivery, I did get to take it for a short drive before "acceptance" to find issues. I would hope they're still doing it.)

You've missed body damage on your walk-arounds? Biggest flag to me that this story is either bullshit or has more to it.

I didn't notice any loud motor noice so far. 4 months now.
Air compressor no issues for me.
Alignment is fine for me.
Paint looks good.
Thank God no body damage.
Yes trim not flush.
Panel rattling... Please don't get me started on that. I feel like setting it on fire sometimes.
Wind noice from roof... OMG please God save me.

As a counter point to OP - I took delivery of a 2025 R1S Dual last Tuesday and I have no serious complaints. It's an awesome vehicle, and I actually like it much better than my Tesla Model X. Took it on a 300+mile round trip this last weekend and it was fabulous.

My two minor quibbles are (1) wind noise above about 65 MPH from the front passenger side window; (2) rear doors are hard to close - require more force to close than front doors. I will schedule a service center appointment in a few weeks after we have a little more time/miles on the car.
Will be interested to know what happens about your rear doors. Mine are the same way. Seems like Rivian has prioritized finish, though, because the lines on my R1S are basically impeccable. To fix it correctly would seem to involve a heat gun and an attempt at re-shaping the seals.

Come to think of it, I have this issue as well. I never noticed it until reading your posts, so it didn't bother me. The body lines on mine are also spot on. In recent memory, I haven't had a car that was so straight and even with all the gaps and how the panels line up.

Body damage isn't always that easy to spot. OP never said how severe it was, and combined it with a paint issue. Some colors make it harder to spot as well.

Don't forget the potential rush of excitement to pick up your new ride. Easy to be an armchair quarterback. I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.

I rent many cars every year and carry one of these with me. It has saved me thousands already. If I were to buy a new Rivian or Tesla, I'd sure as heck take one with me at delivery time.

I'm not sure what you'd use that reflector, at least it looks like a reflector, is for. Could you explain?

Same, they were very open and cool at delivery for me too. Walked all around it with me to make sure there was nothing I was unhappy about and set everything up with me. I was the one trying to wrap it up quick.
That was exactly my experience. I looked at the truck and listened to all the instructions. He was very careful to make sure I was satisfied before I left. I just wanted to take possession of the truck so I also just wanted it to wrap up.

I have noticed some wind noise at highway speeds, but I was not sure if it is normal or not. It isn't super loud, but if there is a fix I will probably have it done. One day. It isn't a big deal.

The rear doors do seem to be tighter than the front, but is that really a problem? The gear tunnel door needs some extra force to close also, but is that a problem? It isn't for me. If they can do some adjustments to make them close easier maybe I will have that done. Meh. It doesn't bother me.

I am trying to determine why the truck was waking up the last two nights when parked outside at the hotel. It did get into the 30s last night yet the battery temp barely dropped below 60, and only briefly. I think maybe the truck is waking to warm the battery?

Probably not if the temp didn't get below 60. I've gotten in my R1 and had the battery temp lower than that, in the 30's a few times.

You should have refused delivery. I had to do that with my first VIN due to body damage that was going to take 8 weeks to repair.

It easily shows any dents or body issues. Look for PDR dent detector see these vide.

Wow, that's cool.
Absolutely awesome to have one. It has kept rental car companies from trying to hit me up for damage that I didn't cause. I perform a walk-around with this and then make sure it is noted on the contract. It takes only a few minutes if you have adequate light. It caught a lot of things they missed but could have claimed I did later.
