Interesting what he said about the discrimination suit. Either the person who filed the suit is lying, RJ is lying or he doesn't have a true pulse on the culture (or his leadership team). Culture is complex so maybe its some combination of the three. Time will tell.

One thing that stood out to me in the discrimination lawsuit is that some exec had explicitly told the employee not to share any of their problems/concerns/etc. with RJ. There could be something super sketchy there (e.g. giving RJ plausible deniability), or the employee could be misremembering/misunderstanding/lying/etc., but to me it sounds like the execs might be intentionally shielding cultural problems from RJ knowing that he'd want to act on them.

I also wonder if it could be more experienced execs babying RJ since this is his first company and he seems to still be idealistic.

Whatever it was, RJ knows about the problems now, so hopefully Rivian is better for it.
