No. It isn't tied to the light at all (at least the way myself and most others are reading it). If it did what the Tesla did and actually worked from the light that is awesome, and would apply when you're the first car in line. But as it reads now, it is only if you're behind a car and it's based on that lead car's movement, which acc does now anyway.
Ignore the specific part about it seeing a light.

If it's like the Tesla system, it's a chime that runs independent of whether you're in cruise control.

If I'm understanding it correctly, you will be stopped behind traffic at a light, not in any kind of cruise control. Your attention is diverted (on the phone, talking to passenger, looking in rearview mirror etc), traffic begins to move, you hear a chime to let you know that traffic ahead of you has moved.

Thanks for the info. Depending on price I may or may not subscribe. The lane change thing is nice, though; I'd hate to give it up.
I agree - I would hate to loose the lane changes. Curious what pricing will be. Tesla is $99/mo for FSD which is obviously WAY more capable. So I'm sure it'll be less than that

Me too. I will say that for 99 bucks a month I will pass on a subscription unless I can stop and start it whenever. Then, a couple of times a year I take a road trip, I'd subscribe.

As a Gen 1 owner, I realize my glory days for major monthly upgrades are pretty much over. Now, it‘s mostly about Gen 2. I’m not complaining. It’s just a reality. But, every now and then, Rivian throws me a bone. This time it’s the auto tilting mirrors in reverse. As someone who is still not totally comfortable relying on cameras, I have been aching for better mirrors, especially, auto tilting mirrors, when backing into tight spaces. Thank you, Rivian!

When is this available and downloads and installs? the update is "2025 06". Is that tomorrow as in March 6th, or June (06). I'm particularly looking forward to the line item that says "Fixed an issue the prevented phones from being set up as a key" I just got my R1S Gen2 last week and could not pair our phones as a key, the service center tried everything that day of pick up and nothing would work. Using the card is a pain in the arse. They have scheduled the vehicle to go into the shop next week saying that they may have to flash some firmware and such. Problem is I'm 1hr away from service and they are sending a flatbed to take the truck and bring it back. Hoping this update is tomorrow and that it corrects the problem.

As in the 6th week of 2025. When the update was originally packaged up to prepare for deployment.
So the 6th week of the year prepared, so when will it actually be deployed down to vehicles? Or has it already?

Typically around a week-ish after the release notes are made available (which happened yesterday). It's also not released to everyone at the same time. The rollout seems to take a few days once they start releasing it

Ok, I have thought more about this enhanced highway assist feature. It's cool, but what is the practical use of the notion that you can take your hands off the wheel, but your eyes have to be looking forward? What is the real use case of that? If I have to keep my eyes looking forward, why would it matter if I could take my hands off the wheel? In what scenarios is this helpful practically, when I am actually driving and using it?

I think it's a big difference. It's really easy to just look forward and it's a bit of a pain to always touch the steering wheel. Are you going to be watching a movie or something?

Well this is my point. I am not going to be watching a movie, nor am I am going to be checking my phone...so what is the point of this feature? That is all I am saying. Sure it's a cool "look no hands" trick, but in practicality lightly resting my arm on the wheel is totally fine.

Overall, very solid update. I'm excited.

So for the go chime, does it not work if you're in the front of a line at a stop light?

Also, I wonder if the enhanced highway assist just does away with the wheel touching requirement or if the actual driving is also updating with regards to centering, dealing with close cars, etc.

Looking forward to the sound improvements too.
No. It will work like Hyundai/Kia's version. If there is a car in front of you, it will warn you when the car pulls away. I love this in our Tucson plugin Hybrid. Surprised Rivian hasn't had this already.

On a long drive, I get an annoying reminder a few times an hour to put my hands on the wheel. My hands actually are on the wheel, I'm just not gripping it firmly enough. It's a small annoyance, but still...
