Be a fanboy or cancel. Okay.
I can’t speak for others but the reason I understand the, “If x is a deal-killer then kill your deal.” response is that it actually sends your message to Rivian.

What does expressing our displeasure on this forum accomplish? It does at least three things. First, it allows us to vent at Rivian’s actions, choices, etc. Second, it allows us to judge how many other members share our viewpoint. Third, when the same point is repeated often enough it annoys the members who don’t share the viewpoint. You may see any or all of those results as good things. Many see the last outcome as a bad thing.

One action venting on this forum does NOT accomplish, as far as I know, is send a direct message to Rivian about the concern(s) discussed. So, if someone actually wants to see change, then they should probably either contact CS to have their comments added to some feedback database, post on social media outlets @ Rivian and their decision-makers, or cancel their order and provide a reason for the cancellation. These things have the potential of effecting the change(s) people want to see.

I’m guilty about complaining about things I don’t like so please don’t take this as an attack or anything. People could, and sometimes should, write the same to me! I’m just trying to explain some potential reasons that others are responding they way they are. They aren’t necessarily diehard fans with blinders on, they just get tired of hearing the same complaint being delivered to a group of people who can’t do anything about the complaint.

Don't you think another official delay would make them lose billions in the IPO?
Possibly. Maybe even probably. But I still don’t think that Rivian’s Board is sitting around cackling to themselves while they deliberately lie to us.

I’m fully aware that companies will almost always do what is in their best financial interest. And who knows, maybe I’m wrong, and maybe another delay is coming. But working with the information I have (my still-valid November delivery window) and just general gut feeling, I’m not buying the notion that there’s some great conspiracy going on behind the scenes.

Official delay in what?

They are making deliveries, they are reporting the deliveries in their amended S1.

Why would they announce a delay in deliveries if they are making deliveries?

As for "fanboi" or "hater"... it's not an either/or. I think there is a point where you can be neither, and yet be seen as the crazy old man yelling at the ocean.

I agree with almost everything you wrote. But not the above. We’ve been reminded many times that Rivian does indeed monitor these forums (they’d be crazy not to).

I think it’s ridiculous when forum members who express an opinion that someone doesn’t like are told to cancel their order and go away. This is a forum for passionate people to discuss Rivian, both the good and the bad.

If someone doesn’t like the topic, skip it. If you don’t like a member, add them to your ignore list. It’s not hard.

Telling people they shouldn’t have a voice just because you don’t agree with them is rude and childish.

Doesn't need to be a conspiracy though. The board can easily know that there is a real delay and agree not to announce it so they won't lose billions of dollars. Easier to keep quiet and trickle out 1-2 "production" vehicles to employees. I would like a window of delivery so I can plan finances accordingly. I live in the heart of where deliveries should probably be happening. L.A with a very early preorder date. uggh.

Sure, if you go by Rivian's definition of deliveries. Let me know when you find out about 1 non-employee delivery.

They may monitor the forums but they have no way to discern between a customer with a legitimate complaint and a troll.

If you really have a valid complaint/concern take it to Rivian's CS. Voice it so they know it is from a legitimate or potential customer. That is the only way there is any real value in voicing your opinion other wise they are probably doing exactly what I do and skip to the next message.

When I first got on the forums I was actually getting some good information, seems lately though, for any real nugget I get there are hundreds of skipped posts that have nothing of value in them.

You might be completely right! We need skeptics, keeps everyone else grounded.

Personally I don’t draw any meaningful distinction between employee and non-employee deliveries, but I know that you and others do. So fair enough.

Like I said before, I’m probably more optimistic than most because I have a Guide now. And so far, I’ve repeatedly been told November for my delivery window.

So whilst you may be on the money, and they’re gearing up to tell me “No, whoops, we meant NEXT November,” I’m gonna keep being optimistic until I have reason to be otherwise

haha. If you do get your truck, I don't need to know much about it. Just say, "I got it, I love it".

Definitely ebbs and flows. I find its directly correlated to how much new info/updates/anything is coming out of Rivian.

We will soon find out if the customers who were given an October delivery window have gotten bumped. I know of one person who reported that they were told by their guide as recently as Monday that their October delivery window is still accurate...

None of the posted NY First Mile were employees.
You are confusing this with a different set of whining. The correct whine for First Mile test drives in NY is "Media/influencer and doesn't count". ;)
ouch

I'd love to skip threads that devolve into defining what a delivery is, what a customer is, who is a real person, and how big of a liar/conman the Rivian organization is.

...but almost every thread on the forum eventually devolves in to it.

At some point... we all get the message... you can stop screaming at the ocean.
