I spoke to Rivian today and they confirmed deliveries to people other than employees.'
Yah, they've been saying that since Sept. Zero proof of this. The public is being fooled. Most people on social media are seeing these posts and are thinking they are all non-employee deliveries.

I guess technically spouses and relatives of employees aren't employees, but they aren't fooling us.

Former employees and families of employees both qualify as such. I'm not buying the implication that they're working through the "average joe" queue until we confirm it ourselves.

So have any of the non-insider forum members who at one point received October delivery dates gotten an update recently? I'm starting to wonder when we'll be out of whatever pseudo beta-test period we find ourselves in now.

I would only think they are being delivered to people given special incentives. There are way too many unknowns about their vehicles for the average non-employee customer, here on this forum, to warrant purchasing. For example, we know Rivian is planning Membership, but we know very little about what it includes, or the price. Optional plans, etc.

What a joke and it is on each of us. I am approaching 3 years on my reservation. Not a word. Have I mentioned probably not for another 12 plus months. Wonder if the shorts will out number the buyers.

I didn't pay much attention to Rivian after my reservation on 12/8/2018. Talked about it a few times and just went on with life. When the configurator came out and they said deliveries start June 2021 , they injected a lot of excitement in all of us. Then came all the shady and covert messages, "guide contacts" that were mainly a charade, and constant delays. Deliveries delayed until July, then Sept. They can't bring themselves to say deliveries are actually delayed again (until Dec? most likely March-June), so they hand built some trucks and gave them to employees in September who post about them like they have a gun to their heads. I wish they can just tell us "deliveries are delayed until March" so we can stop checking constantly.

Yeah I ordered mine on Nov 29th, 2018. I believe the first orders were taken on Nov 26th, 2018. I believe it was during the LA Auto show and does not include employee orders that may have been placed earlier than that.
I have also not heard a thing. I need a truck by December and cannot wait any longer. So I ordered a 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid truck. It will serve my purpose, does 44MPG city and only costs $20,000! All in with a few options and a power moonroof including delivery and dealer prep came to $22,800!
I plan to sell it when my Rivian finally shows up.

God damn, ya’ll are some Negative Nancys up in this thread.

Not sure where anyone is pulling the idea that stuff has been delayed until March from, but I can probably make a good guess.

Employee and employee-relative(s) deliveries are just as valid as deliveries to, as it’s been said, “Non-Insiders”

I think you people are all just salty at the fact that other people are getting their trucks first.

This is a forum. People come to speculate and gripe on forums. It’s totally normal.

Have you reached out to the SEC to let them know Rivian lied on their S1 filings? They take that s**t seriously.

Sigh. Yes, thank you for reminding me I'm on a forum. Thought I'd gotten lost and wandered onto Teslerati for a minute there

You might not want to hear this, but I guarantee you that they've released enough information for folks completely unassociated with the company and with no special incentives to buy trucks.

*You* may need more, but that doesn't mean everyone does.

For example, I don't need a test drive - I trust the automotive press consensus on that.
For another example, Rivian Membership pricing is irrelevant to my purchase decision.

If they called me right now and said "Want to complete your Max Pack purchase and pick it up today? But we can't tell you a single thing more than you already know," my answer would be "yes"

And I'm fairly confident I'm not the only one with that view.

---

Also, as I've mentioned in this thread, there's absolutely no way I would let people here know if I did have my truck and were driving around in it at will.

And I'm fairly confident I'm not the only one with that view, as well.

Not salty about other people getting it first. Based on my preorder number (pretty early but somewhere around 3500) I already knew there were a few thousand before me plus employees. Salty about being misled. Please don't respond with "then cancel".

I mean, you're ahead of me in line! Numerically anyways. And I'll fully admit that I probably have a rosier outlook on things since I was contacted by my Guide.

That being said, I don't think Rivian has been any more intentionally misleading than any other company trying to weather the pandemic and the chip shortage and the entire global supply chain doing its best impression of the Hindenburg.

I'll be the first admit that Rivian absolutely sucks at communicating with its customers. Like, they should take up employment with Dyson, that's how much they suck at it. But I think most of the things people think they've been "mislead" on can be explained by the fact that shit is just really unpredictable right now. Things happen, stuff gets delayed, or changed, or whatever.

I'm not in ANY way trying to excuse their god-awful, holy shit, WTF-levels of bad communication. But I think people's frustration with the delays and such might be tinting their perceptions of things.

Rivian's Communication Department isn't evil, its just useless.
