change the battery in key fob and it stoopped working. so i contacted support via chat and they said they would reset the key fob and that I would have to re-pair it with the 2023 R1T…this meant that I would have to reset the infotainment system and after it restarted is was to hold both the lock & unlock buttons for 20 or more seconds. After doing this I got this message on the main screen…anybody know what I should do not because I have no idea how to connect the vehicle and neither did support (not the slower ones on chat) but their supervisor said he would try to figure out what was going on…anyway I hit "Got It" and it goes away and comes back every time i try to pair the fob….

Is the vehicle connected to your home network?

That is strange as my understanding is the key fob is not something a user can setup in the vehicle and needs to be done by a tech.

I purchased a second key fob and had to take my R1S to the local service center for them to set it up.

You sure the new battery is actually good?

Maybe. Sometimes the simplest answer is the best. Try a brand new and newly purchased battery?

The other thing I noticed is that Rivian wants a specific brand of battery for the fob...It's in the user manual:

It's too bad there isn't a small LED on the fob that lights up when a button is pressed. That would put to bed any questions regarding if the battery is dead, or if the new battery is put in incorrectly (upside down).

As a guy who worked at Radio Shack for 6yrs back in the late 80's and probably changed 1,000s of fob and watch coin and button cells.. I can tell you the battery brand does not matter. As long as you see 3 volts on your voltmeter, it's good to go.

I replaced mine with the Duracell and have had no issues with it.

Amazon has them... Murata CR2450

I only read it the other day when I was trying to see if my R1S would tell me the fob battery level - it only seems to tell you if it's low. We only use the fob for valet parking or for tire rotations and I was afraid the battery would die when we needed it. I'm going to order these and throw two into the center bin so I have them handy when the fob eventually fails just when I need it.
