Received an e-mail from Volkswagen about the ID Buzz beginning to arrive in November.
Kind of a shock as it has been crickets for some time.

This beauty is always road trip-ready. It goes from 0 to 60 mph—changing your perspective in 7.4 seconds.* And, the 2025 ID. Buzz rear-wheel drive offers an EPA estimated range of 234 miles**—feel free to broaden your horizons. Add hidden storage for days and plenty of legroom in all three rows, the ID. Buzz is THE destination to your destination. With pricing for the ID. Buzz starting at an MSRP of $59,995,† things are always looking up. (Available panoramic fixed-glass sunroof, anyone?)
You can also design your own wrap.

I don't care about the 0-60 times, but feel like they missed on seating capacity and range. But hey, at least another 7 seater EV is hitting the market. Will have to check one out to see whether I'll trade in my Pacifica Hybrid.

I want one but it costs too much for what it is. The range needs to be better. I can get the cheapest Rivian for just a little bit more...It is a super cool looking car though!

I ran through the builder a few times. Best I can tell, the 4wd option forces you into making it a 6 seater with captain's chairs in the second row.

I was super excited for this when they showed the production version several years ago. Now, I have little to no interest in it. Poor performance, poor range, they made it longer and uglier for the US market (I prefer the 2 row 5 seater), US market gets ugly porthole windows on the sliders. I wish them the best but I think it isn't a very compelling vehicle given performance and range vs. the price.

I was also excited when they first showed it, but am underwhelmed as well.
We need the 7 seats though so the length is necessary for our situation.

What I don't understand is they made it longer, added 5kWh to the pack and the range is reduced? European model has up to 293mi range with an 86kWh vs 91kWh pack. Maybe testing models between countries are different?

I want one, but definitely not at this price range. Range is disappointing. It is not going to work until VW is opened to charge at Tesla supercharger. Config is a bit turn off for me as well - no 7-seater for AWD. I had ID.4, and I hated their software. I guess the only plus side is they use Apple Carplay.

Yes, the European testing cycle is different than the US one. I think the range is probably the most disappointing thing about it. Add in that VW doesn't seem to be too eager to get access to the Supercharger network and it is even less compelling. They really fumbled this and I don't understand why it took them so long to bring it here. I was in Europe over a year ago and saw their version -- it just seems like a 3 year old vehicle at this point.

The only thing they have going for it, is it is an EV van, which there are no other options in the US out there at this time.
As it wouldn't be our primary traveler (that still goes to the R1S), I can get by without the supercharger network. However, either the price needs to be lower at this range, or higher range at this price.
234mi range estimate assumes a 2.57mi/kw efficiency.

Agree
At 40 or 50k maybe.
Though we’re all somewhat spoiled with tech and creature conveniences , the Vdub was founded on simplicity ‘the people’s car’
As far as seating, we favor 2 rows like so many minivans in Europe , with an option to EASILY remove row 2.
We ordered the R1S In ‘21 then found out 3 rows only so we switched to T having to carry bikes
First PU in 58 years and would be lost without it.
Had our crosshairs on the buzz for years and still lusting

Buzz concept had 111kWh. Totally misses the mark with anything less than that on the production version. If Rivian didn't exist, maybe we'd be looking at the Buzz, but probably would have already gotten an EV9.

Exactly my thoughts as well.
Maybe a buy when they have 7seat for AWD and the Rivian SW stack :)
But a bench 2nd row is a MUST in my (wife's) books.

Was interested until the range / base price came out. Totally missed the mark. Wondering if they'll use the Kia EV9 strategy which is that no one actually pays anywhere close to MSRP. At $40k–$50k they'll have an audience, although I assume those folks will be staying local with that range. And agreed, it should find buyers given that it's the only EV minivan around. Got to sit in it at the OC Auto Show and it was okay. The Kia Carnival in the booth over... now that was something.

If Kia made an EV Carnival, that would crush it. Wondering when their PV lineup will come to production.

Also... which engine are you guys spec'ing? LOL.
