That's my favorite playlist, and is usually popular in groups. I call it "X" since there's no name or structure. Now I need a new one with just Atmos tracks.

It’s been so much fun exploring the library.

Dark side of the moon was not a disappointment
The Hendrix stuff has been great
Sublime Sublime was a surprise
All the Beatles stuff is very good

I drive a lot every day for work. Today going the try the Doors and some of these suggestions

The good sounding tracks seem to be the exception rather than the rule and it all comes down to how they were remastered for spatial audio / atmos. I wanted to like it, but generally dislike it so far...way too bass-heavy and they seem to have even ruined the fantastic audio experience I had with Spotify too as it now sounds different and is muddier than it used to be because of how bass-heavy it is.

Starting with the Made For Spatial Audio playlist I thought the Katy Perry recent music sounded decent (Woman's World, Dark Horse, Firework, Teenage Dream, etc). The Twisters song by Miranda Lambert did seem improved with Atmos vs Spotify (Ain't In Kansas Anymore).

Boom by Tiesto and Sevenn
Rocket Man by Elton John

Not a fan of either artist, but if you want to hear the capabilities of Atmos, these are a must. Make sure you listen to the Atmos mixes, there are non Atmos versions that could pop up in the search.
Ill second;

Boom by Tiesto and Sevenn

Holy smoke!

Yeah, I agree it's probably 2 out of 10 songs that sound much better with Atmos. IMO it's kinda always been like that. That's why I thought having a thread with some of the best sounding songs could improve people's experience with it.

Audio sounds better, but it's coming from the front too much. Didn't feel balanced even when I slide the centre point to the rear.

Strawberry Wine - Deana Carter. Lots of good highs, lows, and mids. Full range song.
Orinoco Flow - Enya. And a lot of other Enya songs. Great range of tones.

I would love to listen to Geoff Castellucci, but I know this system is not up to the tones of his vioce.

This update, for the sound, has so far been amazing... Only if I could get that damned blasted AppleMusic to work.

I thought about doing that but then I worried one of you would try to have me committed for having a playlist that includes Al Green, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Public Enemy, The Dead Kennedys, Primer 55, and a bunch of others that make no sense together.
Love my Al Green ???

Does the Rivian 3D Surround Sound option have an impact on Apple Music’s Atmos? What does everyone have their’s set to? Off, On, or Enhanced?

I would say no, I tried switching it around when playing a dolby atmos song and no noticeable difference.

Rocket Man and some of the remixed Beatles stuff demonstrate some really good re-interpretations of the original mixes. Some great spacial audio and 360-degree panning and effects without ruining the original spirit and feel of songs that EVERYBODY already knows so well. I'm sure it wasn't an easy task to mix these in Atmos. Billie Eilish and the new Post Mallone sound good. It's interesting to hear which artists put a lot of work and consideration into creating a unique Dolby Atmos mix and which sort of "phoned it in" by mostly maintaining the original mix and routing some reverb and delay effects to the other channels. I found the Guns N Roses stuff to be pretty underwhelming. It has to be difficult for record labels and artists (whomever owns the masters) to decide to spend a bunch of money remixing back catalog albums and songs in Dolby Atmos, since there really isn't much money in streaming and you can't really sell or release the new mixes on any tangible medium like CD or vinyl.

I know that when you have the "spacial audio" preference enabled in Apple Music, if there is a Dolby Atmos mix available, that will play back (vs. the stereo mix). I wish there were a way to specifically filter for ONLY Atmos mixes. It's a little jarring going between formats on a playlist considering the extreme differences in volume (and compression).

I was switching it on/ off while listening to the Atmos songs and I could barely tell the difference.

Potentially it makes the non atmos tracks sound more similar to those that are encoded for atmos? ?‍♂

It's disappointing, but I agree with this. I'm not claiming to be a sound engineer or an audiophile. I just like what I like. So, listening to a lot of the tracks on either my BT or my IEMs vs the Rivian Audio is disappointing. Now, did the update make the speakers better? Yes, I believe so. Even through BT, I have songs downloaded as hi-res lossless/lossless and that sounds better after the update. Spatial Audio/Atmos is hit or miss.

Do I think it can be improved upon via another SW update? Yes, absolutely because I know how well they can sound using the same streaming service and tracks. Will they do something about it? Probably not for a long while. The stopgap, would be allowing us to use one of the USB-C ports to play local lossless audio. I honestly would prefer this, but it's not convenient to a lot of people.
