As of today (8/14/2024), Discount Tires is showing as 2-6 days availability to my location. I wonder how efficient they are vs the OEM 21" Pirellis. I'm at 4.5k miles on my Pirellis and they look to last 20-30K.

Mine only lasted about 15k before it was advised to replace them. I rotate every 5K, and when I brought them in to rotate at 15k they were ~3/32. I don't do a lot of long distance driving, so it's a lot of short trips that probably wears a fair amount.

Does anyone know whether you can get one of these and use as a spare if you had to with the OEM 21s?

I’m so glad they shipped!! I thought they killed them when the 21 was killed by Rivian for 25

It was likely committed by the time Rivian killed 21. Now most should prefer 21s again

Just as an FYI the 20" version 275 60 R20 is $80 less a tire. Still best to switch from 21" to 20"
If all you want is all season tire, spending $2650 + tax on 20 inch rims makes no sense. If got 20s, I would get Continental Terrain Contact HT though. They wear a bit more than defender, but are better for traction. A for Conti vs B for Michelin.

21 rims are also more aerodynamic. Michelin is 8 lbs lighter than stock Pirelli ?. All of this will help range.

Besides the pure savings the ride will be much better on the 20's and not to mention the availability of 18 different options. You could go Generals on the 20's and that would be half the price and same range. I believe the aero is negligible the biggest difference is rolling resistance, so something like the Defenders on 20's would get = or better range than the 21's. Also I drive with my 21 aero covers off so anyone that does that will likely have same performance.

Eh, but way too much sidewall on the 20 and I thing the kW rate is lower even with the same tire. Of course if you have 21s and switch to 20 or 22 you still have to buy new wheels

Depends on how long to own vehicle and if you get less expensive options like Atomic. 20’s also are much better ride overall with many options.
Stock wheels are like $650. Atomic wheels aren't meaningfully cheaper, and can be more expensive too.

I prefer to stick with stock wheels because I worry about aftermarket wheels being too strong or too weak. Too strong and they can affect crash safety. Problem with being too too weak is obvious.
