Also, so many people who complain like this, never open a ticket...they just send random e-mails to Rivian..

I've never once not had a ticket request responded to almost immediately.
Exactly. You call Rivian, explain what's going on and in 5 minutes there's a ticket.
This post seems not credible.

This is my concern with gen 2 cars. All of the parts revamps and cost cutting could lead to reliability issues. Gen 1 was engineered over many years, whereas all the modifications to gen 2 seem to have been done very quickly. Gen 1 cars are massively over engineered and overall I think that’s a good thing. Time will tell.

Agreed. Gen 1 tear downs showed the high quality build, which may have been overly complicated and costly at times. The cutbacks to improve efficiencies and decrease COGS (and improve profitability) simply cannot happen without decreases in quality of materials and/or design.

Personally, I prefer the Gen 1 build because of this.

If I was in market I would definitely chase down a nice G1 QM with Meridian.

Isn’t the return policy no longer in effect?

Can someone share an overview of available consumer protection laws and tips for new Rivian owners?
Navigate to: www.google.com —> type, ‘find me information on consumer protection laws for vehicle owners in [insert state]’ —> hit enter.

Yes it appears they have done away with the return policy. This must have been recent.

https://rivian.com/support/article/does-rivian-have-a-vehicle-return-policy

I expected they would as Tesla had a similar policy and they did away with theirs as well.

I have a delivery checklist on my website. All the more reason to thoroughly inspect prior to delivery.

Yes, Rivian has axed the 7-day return policy.

“Rivian vehicles do not have a return policy.“

Every production startup has issues. With every company, and every manufacturing line. That's just the way it works. If you want the best quality product, wait a year for all the bugs to be worked out of the process. Can you wait? If you can't, just realize this is how it works.

I own two. Neither needed the alignment fixed after delivery. Neither have had an AC issue.
I have had three. All three had about twenty tickets filed, each, within three or four weeks of delivery. However, none have been alignment or A/C related.

Rivian doesn't offer a 7 day return anymore. If the OP incident really did happen it truly sucks

They’re mostly listed on these forums under my old handle, NineElectrics. I couldn’t stay away, guys. Creating a new account is easier than trying to update my handle, which, as you can see, was getting stale.

The update is that I couldn’t resist the pre-refresh sale and also picked up a dual max R1T. That one had:

- a subroofer/dash rattle
- missing powered tonneau (grrrr!)
- front fender misalignments
- frunk headlight misalignment
- gear tunnel closure misalignment
- second row door misalignment
- driver rear beltline seal delaminating
- delivered with small dent in the front passenger door (very subtle, though, found by my PPF detailer)
- molding alignment issues
- squeaky suspension over bumps
- one tailgate cable has way too much slack (this is supposedly to spec. but looks like shit)
- charging door misalignment

The first R1S had some issues that I noticed much later (like a slouching suspension) but I hope I don’t see those on the truck. So far none have been powertrain related (knock, knock). Just today I went toe to toe at a rural stoplight with someone in a Cobra roadster, and it was very satisfying. In a non-performance package truck, no less!
