I couldn't imagine wanting to go back to work in an environment where the grim reaper is constantly firing (and unfiring?) at the drop of a hat

I've been thru this scenario back in 1999... Company fired everyone in the engineering dept at BellSouth Telephone, then only rehires the "cream-of-the-crop" back. Legal way to get rid of unwanted employees without lawsuits or arbitration meetings... Welcome to the "World of Corporations"

If I were one of these people, I'd take the job back and immediately start applying to other roles. Extremely disappointing from all sides.

Elmo is an idiot. don't give him credit for some "genius" move. he might be an engineering genius but he's not savvy in that way. he likely did this impulsively then realized his mistake or more likely was told he made a mistake. he'll likely have to hire most of them at a higher wage than when the left and im sure some of the ones they want to rehire wont come back.

Not to mention the severance cost and lost of productivity trying to patch it back together.

Anyone trying to spin this as anything other than a huge mistake has blinders on.

It also sends a message if they fire two of the highest-ranking female executives at Tesla and only hire back dudes.

Tinnucci was making some really great moves with NACS and network expansion and her portion of the last investor day presentation was the most interesting IMO.

He isn't an engineer. I'm also less and less convinced that he contributes anything useful to anything remotely close to the "engineering" of anything. Seems like most insiders say he just shows up to meetings, craps all over whatever it is people are doing, and then leaves. So not an engineering genius all. Just weirdly talented at crapping on other people's stuff in a way that seems to motivate them to make progress.
