Agreed and there have been changes previously like the standard battery and enduro motor models. When others use the term upgrade they seem to be thinking something more like a interior or exterior change which is not in the cards.

Rivian needs to increase R1 sales for the 2-years and this is a perfect opportunity to refresh the R1, add new exterior color options and possibly add a new trim or two. I predict we will see a 1,000+ HP Enduro Quad Motor R1X this year as well.

This is exactly what I think.....with the current market conditions (many factors to that), they will not be able to hold pricing where it is at. If they can save $10K per vehicle in cost, then they will need to drop the price at least $5K with some lessor trim options.

The market will not support the current pricing on the R1 line, regardless of what they do. They need to drop the price $5-8K depending upon the vehicle options, as a minimum. If they don't I'm not sure how they can hold on, until R2 is in mass deliverable state.

Average current owner won't see a reason to buy a refreshed R1, from what I have heard. Of course I am still excited to find out about what's new.

I'd buy one... Warranty is about up on miles.

Lower price for entry model (less options but don't know what).

R1X Trim with...

Probably new steering wheel at the very least shared across all vehicles as seen in R2

Max Pack availability with highest performance model (3 or 4 motors IDK)

New interior materials

New wheels

All painted exterior pieces

Fewer colors over all across R1 line.

BOOM Rivian has my money ?

That is 2025- they already said that. There is only so much they can do in 3 weeks and the planning started before NACS became a thing they were going to

They wouldn’t do that before switching the RAN chargers to NACS.

This does not shock me. The focus is on profitability. That doesn’t scream “you’re getting more value”. They are focused on their value in each transaction, not ours.

Journalists may get a preview with a publishing date restriction.

That release of restriction would presumably correspond to the reopening of the stores ability to configure new production

Right... Didn't Tesla kind of go quiet on New builds and bigger, better faster, for a few years after their initial offerings? They Just really focused on software, production and profitability. THEN they brought out the Plaids and upgrades and really started focusing on the Cybertruck.. I feel like Rivian will probably follow the same kind of growth plan. Why would they keep raising prices and building more expensive to build vehicles when they can't turn a profit now?

Plus, I freaking love my quad motor R1T, I don't want to be forced to look at a brand new truck already if they start building 1000hp models. ??? please ev gods, don't let it happen already!

The factory shut down for retooling, inventory counts etc... I wouldn't expect too much from a "refresh". Slight changes, mostly unnoticeable. The Tri-motor seems to be the big rumor. I ordered mind just before the shut down knowing the shut down was coming. Still a lot of R1 inventory that needs to move before they make any major updates in my opinion.
