I am a bit naive about this topic but curious to know what happens to the vinyl wrap once it wears out? Xpel website says it will last 10 years. Does it then go in a landfill or does it break down into microplastics and go into the environment and water supply? I realize that driving on “rubber” tires is not good for the environment already but curious whether this adds a negative impact on top of the usual. That might not be a value add to protect the paint if it does harm. I’m picking up my R1T 4/24 and trying to decide if I should ask for a wrap.

damn i just paid over 6k to have a shop do this to the truck i just bought.

....and now I go to the shop and there are a bunch of vehicles with free stealth and powered tonneau covers.

I thought the same thing, but I’m going to go with….. the quality of our install will be better? And now we have an easy face to face for warranty? And…….they don’t have the exact truck I wanted anyway and mine is great and aw $&@?!

I am sure it is. I would probably still want to get an edge wrap. The factory of on my truck does not look good 2 years later.

Yup - probably taking cars off the lot that can't be sold and getting stealth installed on them as an incentive to get them sold before the refresh is released. Given the April 30th deadline for the PPF it aligns with the shutdown being over and Rivian likely releasing info about potential changes to the R1 lineup.

From the pic it shows on the configuration with the frunk emblem, it looks like they had done the ppf before attaching the emblem. They may include the edge-wrapped imo. Most satin ppf are done with edge-wrapped otherwise the finished product would show up terrible looking.

Could also be a way to push sales, while leveraging factory workers that might otherwise be down. Xpel install costs are mainly in the labor, so if they have free labor during the downtime, then its a win win to try to push some sales.

Doesn't look that way.

• For the best coverage, we fully wrap edges that don't require panel removal or disassembly (in areas where that's not possible, the film will extend to within 1mm of the edge)

Interesting offer. Rivian has a deal with XPEL and they do great on honoring warranty.

I wonder if it’s stealth only or if one could opt for gloss instead?
