I'll take one for the team and give up my Jan 2021 preorder position for somone who really really need an adapter. I probably won't use one this year, if ever. Opening bids start at $220. j/k

Why would it? There was never any indication "adapter" = "adapter + extension". Word of extension is a separate thing put out by Tesla, as a future product that one could buy from them. This also seems to confirm that the adapter DOES NOT include an extension cable.
"hold my beer and watch this!"Unapproved doesn't mean unsafe to use.
If it's too much risk for some of y'all, then wait.
It matters when you took delivery, not when you ordered.I'll take one for the team and give up my Jan 2021 preorder position for somone who really really need an adapter. I probably won't use one this year, if ever. Opening bids start at $220. j/k
You overlooked earlier discussions about some people suggesting it should be based on order date, shareholder statsus, etc. It was a "tongue in cheek" reference to those comments. It matters when you took delivery, not when you ordered.
I am wondering what constitutes the "priority for longest standing owners". We are some of the earliest Rivian adopters on 11/28/18, but did not take delivery until 04/26/23.
How about priority for long-term shareholders? I heard another EV company is doing that, jus sayin....
It would have been nice to think that Rivian's earliest customers would get at least a little consideration.
I'm still waiting for the inevitable youtuber teardown so I don't have to volunteer mine when it comes.I'll take one for the team and give up my Jan 2021 preorder position for somone who really really need an adapter. I probably won't use one this year, if ever. Opening bids start at $220. j/k
And perhaps they will also post a 3D printable model on Thingiverse. ?I'm still waiting for the inevitable youtuber teardown so I don't have to volunteer mine when it comes.
lol my bad, thanks for the context! In that case, I started dreaming about an electric truck back in 2016ish, so I guess I should be #1? I'll sell my spot for $10kYou overlooked earlier discussions about some people suggesting it should be based on order date, shareholder statsus, etc. It was a "tongue in cheek" reference to those comments.
That's not a bad idea. I don't know anyone who'd let me use their markforged metal X though. And perhaps they will also post a 3D printable model on Thingiverse. ?![]()
The bigger question is, how many cases have you tried to verdict? Even more relevant questions are, how many product liability cases have you tried? How many cases that needed electrical and mechanical engineers have you tried? I'm a lawyer, too, and I know better than to claim I know it all when it comes to law. I stick to my area of specialty and realize I am not an expert in anything else. Even in my specialty area, I have learned over the years that there are no absolutes, only educated guesses.Good. Only lost one case on liability grounds but it was worth taking to trial anyway based on the amount of damages. Had one case dismissed because we could never locate the defendant for service. Never lost a motion for summary judgment. Every other case has resulted in settlements or verdicts in excess of my clients' damages. All verdict amounts have exceeded offers of settlement.
You may well be close with the guess-timate of 10K-20K units a month however keep in mind that so far their appears to be a single approved manufacturer for all auto brands meaning Rivian is competing with Fords order of 200K units and soon GM is likely to place an order for another 250K units, and Polestar etc... even if production is 30K units/month some owners are gonna wait over a year. Unless this is inaccurate I am expecting to see approved units on the secondary market for >$500.Pardon OB1, but I am new to the Rivian Universe, and still learning its ways and element of time. However, this one should be easy to speed up the typical Rivian time continuium since the adapter is likely made by a third party, already under production and even warehoused, and shipped by a Fullfillment service. I would think the limit is production capacity and time to the fulfillment center, which should be 10,000-20,000+ units/month. But yes, even with my optimistic assessment, that may still be up to 8 months for those of us with recent deliveries. I'm making your case--Are you an A2Z or Lectron plant?
I can say with certainty that I have handled exactly zero cases involving melting Rivians. Anecdotally, both of my brothers are engineers and defense contractors. One electrical and one mechanical. The electrical wired up my RV for solar and did the level two charger install in my home. He's got an EV too and doesn't see any issues with using the A2Z adapter. That's good enough for me.The bigger question is, how many cases have you tried to verdict? Even more relevant questions are, how many product liability cases have you tried? Would have been wise for Rivian to secure a fixed allocation of units on a timeline when they agreed to team up with Tesla. The announcement that shipping will start in april seems to support this.keep in mind that so far their appears to be a single approved manufacturer for all auto brands meaning Rivian is competing with Fords order of 200K units and soon GM is likely to place an order for another 250K units, and Polestar etc...
