I am absolutely not disagreeing with you (we are saying the same thing, I think). If I were a victim of my vehicle not behaving as I'd expected (as a condition it was sold to me as), I'd have similar heartburn, and would expect the manufacturer to make me whole.You are largely correct but people who buy a $100k vehicle will demand that certain issues get fixed such as drain or software issues that brick components. This article hasn't aged as well as people have hoped but they are getting there and new features are a super gift.

If you re-read the spirit of my post, it had nothing to do with 'fixes' and everything to do with "why can't I have *these* features now?"
Insofar as, even with 'older' vehicles, there were still TSBs and software updates that might be performed by the dealership to correct ECU 'bugs' and nags in the systems when you took your car in for maintenance, that's actually a relatively established practice by the big automakers.
