yes. Per the local “Nextdoor” website. The city received hundreds of letters asking for the city to decline the event, so Rivian canceled. What a slap in the face to Rivian. Spent ~$20M restoring a dilapidated historic building at the center of Laguna Beach only for residence to complain. Apparently many residents are complaining Rivian was even allowed to develop the property to begin with. Nuts.

Nextdoor is the NIMBY social media platform of choice.

On the bright side, maybe they'll hold the event at a location I can actually drive to (edit: although they may still proceed with the indoor event at the Laguna Beach Rivian Space)

bruh... that city is pretty exclusive as real estate prices are insane. probably bunch of rich, entitled Karens and Kens.

Rivian, launch R2 in Seattle... i think we have less of those.... i think. ?‍

There is a good sized parking lot at Rivian HQ. Not as pretty, but people/press would be there to see the car(s), so who cares about scenery.

There are lots of locales that would fight for Rivian to hold the R2 Event. Including here in the Florida Panhandle where the nice Florida sunshine would look very nice on the beautiful Rivian paint Color pallet .

I'm happy they are gearing up for a product launch but man would I love to have my PTC on and working. Could've used it a ton this last year. I know it's an evolving entity and not everything is sequential....however, I want my cover. lol
