Did an elk hunting trip over thanksgiving from Vista CA to Springerville AZ.

1200 miles round trip. Took I8 from Vista to Meza and stopped to charge at EA in Yuma and RAN and Gila Bend.

I used a 30 amp RV plug to charge in Mesa to get to 100%.

On the way to Springerville, stopped at APS/EA station in ShowLow. No more DCFC available after that. Used the wall plug at the hotel. There was RV hookups in the area, but didn’t need it.

R1T did great on the trip, my main observation is if you can access a RV or other 230v plug, you can charge at 6.6KW and make up a lot of range over night.

Reversed the route and left stopped in GB and El Centro on the way back.

Good man! You just figure it out! I do the same as electric driving is new, fueling that machine is a new way to travel. No complaining, just figure it out. It's all there for us. I've also charged at 30 amp RV sites, it works great. All the camp sites I've asked to use that plug and offer to pay, the attendant has said feel free to use it, and not taken my money. That will probably change but the option is there. Nice truck!

The included portable charging kit has the plug. No adaptor needed.

The Rivian kit, and your photo show a 15 amp 110 and a 50 amp 240 plug, nothing for 30 amp RV (three blades at an angle).

For those interested in a truly capable gorilla charge kit, I use and recommend the Tesla mobile EVSE with their NEMA kit. Extremely powerful and flexible.

Sorry, I should have been more clear, I was on a 50 amp plug with the 240 Plug, but the EVSE limits charging to 32 amps.

I do also carry this in case:

Have you tried using that 30 amp adapter yet? You are going from 30 amp 110 and trying to feed it into your 240 side of the EVSE. It is not likely to work.

A lot of hinky stuff happens when you start using adapters that were designed for use with RVs. It is for this reason that I recommend Tesla's NEMA kit, it is well designed for what we need; charging our vehicles.

I use a similar kit with my Tesla mobile unit from my Model 3 for the most frequently found TT-30 receptacle, then a NACS to J1772 adapter.

That Tesla NEMA kit looks legit... would be nice for Rivian to add more adaptor options.

I have a similar plug to use 30A RV sites with my Rivian portable charger. This is the one I have,

https://www.amazon.com/ONETAK-Charger-Compatible-Connector-Connecter/dp/B07XNSXWM4/ref=sr_1_5?crid=K0PVBFOVWAFW&keywords=rv/ev+adapter&qid=1701723607&sprefix=rv/ev+adapte,aps,108&sr=8-5

I got about 5 miles per hour with the setup. NOT an electronic expert by any means, but I believe the plug was NOT designed to be used with RVs and specifically ONLY EV chargers.

At the newer sites where I could plug 50A AND 30A at same time, I used the 30A on the travel trailer and 50A for the Rivian. This was the ideal setup, but only the newest/upgraded cites had the option. All the others were EITHER 30A or 50A.

Since the Tesla kit is less expensive more feature rich and has years of proven toughness,

You are correct. That one specifically states that it is not for RV use. It is trying to use the RV ones that can get you in trouble.
