We’ll see. Sxm is pretty easy to negotiate with if you threaten to leave. Honestly I don’t mind paying for it is a separate radio. If you’re paying for it as a separate radio then it seems it should be debundled from rivians data plan. Who knows though - not much info in that press release.

Historically I’ve only had to pay for radios that have access to their satellites.

I've heard that about them - I know some who threaten to cancel every year and they have lowered their price each year LOL.

I doubt they could separate it from your Rivian data plan though. Just like TuneIn, it would need that to stream. Other than just the BT connection to your phone for music, all of the Rivian streaming apps use the vehicle's data plan.

If it is the same as Lucid’s implementation, you will have to add it as a radio to your account and pay a separate fee as though it was a physical radio. I’m sure that this is a new revenue stream for both SXM and Rivian

Sounds like the APP, which is fine but I won't pay any extra for Sirius Service, nothing there I require.

Yep. And I don't blame them for doing it. I will probably just use the phone app if that is the case, however. I don't use SXM enough to justify adding to my subscription unless it's super cheap.

That’s me. Been doing that for 15+years! Never paid full price. After I negotiate a new price, I set a calendar appointment a year out to start the whole process again

I just plan on sticking with BT from phone. Not as convenient, but I have a dash mount that works well. My Lucid has CarPlay, so I use SXM from there. I pay $5/mo for streaming only plan. Also works great in home using my echo devices

Based on the positive responses in this thread so far, it would seem otherwise. Any time "wasted" was likely minimal, and it probably creates a new revenue stream for RIvian.

Poor focus? RIvian has always stated that they wanted to build out a suite of end to end integrated apps. This fits that statement, so how is this poor focus?

Same here, I canceled all actual sat based services as the sat feed quality sucks nowadays due to aging batteries and xponders on their two sats and them placing too many channels on each xponder.

I also negotiated with them for Streaming Only (it works on my desktop PC and phone) and pay only $5/month as well.

This is an excellent new development as I really miss my SXM when I am driving.

What does seem strange to me is how the lack of satellite access is so inconsistent with Rivan's positioning as an adventure off-road vehicle. What makes SXM so great is its accessibility places where there is no radio signal or internet access. I had a small wakeboarding boat with SXM and it was a absolute must-have after having it for a while.

6 of 1 a half dozen of the other.... as far as their streaming services. One thing SXM has is the ability to "go back" like an hour earlier in the program.
