What is not meaningful abvout my post? We are talking $100K to $150K cars here. If you can afford these, then you can afford a better solution for charging two cars at home.

In my opinion, besides both being EV's and having 7 seats, the two cars are different enough where they aren't really comparable. One is a luxury car, the other is not sold as one. One has true offraod capabilities, the other should probably stick to picking up kids from school. Either way, they both look great in the car line at my kids school. Also, I'm not hating on the Lucid, they are awesome and more of a luxury car that I would compare with BMW or Mercedes. Since I can't have both, I have to stick with the Rivian.
What meaningless is that you ignore the mention of road tripping and pick daily commuting for the sack of an argument in the post. I admitted in the post that these vehicles are geared to different needs but it is also a fact that majority of owners don't use their R1S for offroading. These comparisons are inevitable because both are 3-row EVs. For the same reason, people compare R1S to Model X and EV9.

If you plan to keep your vehicle for a while, at least the Lucid is very well prepared for the future. I feel like it will be many years, but eventually all chargers will be 1000V capable and those of us with a 400V vehicle will be left behind.
I totally agree. The infrastructure is being updated rather quickly. These infrastructure issues will be a thing of past in a year or two. I will spent my $100K on a vehicle that is prepared for that future.

Personally I am not seeing quick improvement in charging infrastructure, but that's just me. I see slow improvements and massive congestion and issues. Public charging sucks now and will suck worse in a year. Maybe in 5 years it will turn the corner. Hopefully sooner, but I see no evidence of that.

To be fair, the percentage of people doing off-road and the percentage of people doing a lot of long road trips are probably not that different

I am pretty confident due to NACS and tesla super chargers opening to other EVs. No doubt, it will be messy initially but things will greatly improve in a couple of years.

I agree. But if the worst case scenario is that in 5 years my truck still charges at the same speed it does now I will be happy. I would be shocked if the overall charging network is upgraded by then to accommodate the faster charging vehicles. I do hope I’m wrong about that! And I am rooting for Lucid, too. I like what they are doing and I hope the Gravity is a huge success.

Let's say, 3 long road trips per year to 1 offroad trip. The percentages will be drastically different.

Looks like Lucid is buying some guerilla marketing. While enjoyed his Tesla digs, I believe Jason Cammisa was paid by Lucid.

I had a Jeep GC for 9 years, I did 2 road trips longer than 400 miles in that time. I think I’m pretty close to 90% of the use cases when it comes to road trips.

This study kind of supports my position. I’m not saying there are not specific use cases for longer range and faster charging but it is such a small percentage of most use cases just seems silly to put so much focus on it.

There are plenty of posts of R2 on this forum and if one can discuss R2, it is fair to discuss gravity. That was my point.
Your ChatGPT parrot SPECIFICALLY said this:
" I'd love to hear the community's insights and experiences with both models!"

The point is that it's not an issue as to whether to discuss the gravity or not. The point is nobody here or anywhere else, has experiences with a Gravity - it's not shipping yet and you know that. The whole post is just odd and does not come across as a sincere post. It comes across as a ChatGPT parrot, a troll, or an advertisement for the Gravity.

If it's none of the above, then your strange post makes it clear that you strongly prefer the Gravity, so go buy it tomorrow. The Rivian is not for you.

Most definitely.

The thing that everyone keeps saying about the Rivian is that it is the best off-roader.

Well, our family has not ever gone off-roading ever before and don’t really plan on it. Only reason we got the R1S is because it was the only 3-row alternative to a Model X. But, now, there will be many more options for us suburban families that aren’t the off-roading type.

I’ll be a day one reservation holder.

I think the lucid gravity or antigravity or Tesla X or whatever is fine for people who never want to camp or go off-road, for them the Rivian is overkill imo. If you never see gravel or dirt roads, why would you want such an off road capable vehicle? Buy a telsa and get by with it until your gravity is delivered. leave the forest and adventures to the truck like EVs.
