You know why.
Maybe you can clarify. Elon musk isn’t black. And he is South African Boar/Afrikaner. Perhaps we send him back to Canada, less touchy for you?

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
The sad part is the majority of Elon’s fanboys love him BECAUSE he says things like that. Still good to see some folks have had enough.
A friend of mine - Israeli transplant to the bay area - was a total Musk fan, primarily because of his history as a “world-class entrepreneur” (his words). I wouldn’t call him a Stan, but he was as close as possible without being an asshat about it.

About a year ago, I told him I wouldn’t buy a new Tesla because I refused to support the hateful BS spewing from his mouth on Tweeter. He was aghast that I would be so blasphemous to our Silicon Valley demigod.

Then he started paying attention to what Musk was saying, and started to soften a bit. I haven’t talked to him about it since the war started but am sure his transformation is complete.

TL;DR - some people can be reached, but sometimes it takes incredibly painful and personal message to get through.

Race or ethnicity

Edit: being slightly less racist or using jokes to "soften" your racism doesn't make you less racist. Adding "South" to Africa doesn't change the origin of your words. Just asking us to do better.

Now, sending him back to California... That I can get behind. /S

Hate is hate. People will keep trying to move the goalposts, so that the hate doesn’t reach/affect them. But, eventually, the hate will. Or, they’ll lose themselves and become a cult member

It is really sad. It’s almost like deprogramming a cult member. I don’t get it because he’s been saying and doing crazy shit for a long time IMO, but I guess it doesn’t matter when people wake up as long as they wake up.

i dont like the guy but you cant deny Tesla has done well under his watch. he's polarizing, thats for sure and creates a lot of volatility if youre an investor. with Musk you get both the good and bad.

I certainly can't deny that Tesla has attracted a lot of very talented engineers since Musk's takeover. But it's obviously one of those things where I couldn't prove that Tesla would have been just as successful with another person at the helm instead of Musk.

Exactly. And conveniently ignoring it because it doesn’t specifically affect someone personally is something I will not get behind.

Yeah man that’s way out there. You can virtue signal elsewhere. I’ll choose not to engage. If sending a racist back to a classically racist place is racist then so is everything else. I shouldn’t have assumed everyone is educated in South African history.

You can't say polarizing things like that as a company leader. You shouldnt hold those views to start with but if you do, as a public figure, keep them to yourself. He has an obligation to all of his employees of all of his companies to keep their jobs and futures healthy.

Being the top of any company is a responsibility and using your platform to be a messenger boy for Stormfront isn't a great look. I know I've defended Elon in the past over his free speech but I can't support agreeing with statements like this. I support his right to say them but he is wrong for believing that.
He can't get the apartheid out of his bones

Maybe I should have read the article, I normally skip these Elon bash sessions, they don't seem to actually help anything.

Now that I've read it, woof. Dude doesn't know when to stop doubling down, it's like he's a RIVN fan or something.

South African education aside, it's still not cool to espouse and normalize deportation based on... Well any qualification outside of citizenship/immigration status. But hey, Florida does what Florida wants. You should hit up Fat Tire fest outside Ocala in March, let's get a beer and chat.

I'm no Tesla fanboy and no Rivian fanboy either. However this latest BS from Elon prevents me from recommending a Tesla to family/friends.

I wish those on leadership/management position would just f'ing get rid of their social media accounts, keep their mouth shut on social/political/world issues.

I get the tribalism engagement social media creates for many groups and the marketing value of it but the whole confirmation bias it generate gets really really annoying....

Yeah it really wasn’t meant to be that deep but I’d double down on it. Ignoring his lineage would actually only better serve to absolve him further. I think most people got it. The FL dig doesn’t hurt at all as I don’t typically align. I’m actually from CO and am well versed on wishing Californians home.

The best thing Tesla as a company could do is push him out entirely. He is a one man wrecking crew right now, destroying their reputation. Him buying Twitter was like a drunk buying Jack Daniel’s. It was always going to end up like this.
Or give him a different post that doesn't involve having his hands on the steering wheel. He reminds me of Steve Jobs when Jobs was younger. Difference is Jobs had the depth of intelligence and humility necessary to "grow up".
