2002 4Runner --> 2023 R1S. Anyone else coming from a 20+ year-old vehicle?

Most people here seem to be coming from a late-model Tesla MX, BMW X7, etc. It's funny to see the things that bother people about the R1, like driver assist features and missing software features. When you're coming from a 2002 vehicle everything about the R1 feels like magic!

I went from a 2003 4Runner to a 2023 R1S. Gave the 4Runner to my son. Still runs great with 250K miles. Not a single problem. Hope my R1S lasts that long.

I replaced a 9 year old Jeep GC with my R1S. Was only 6 years old when I placed my reservation. ?

I’m coming from a 10 year old Ford Fusion Energi and I love my R1S. Surprisingly the Ford had all the bells and whistles 10 years ago including self-park, which is missing from R1. I was dreading the regen (my son has severe motion sickness) but I’ve gotten so used to it that we cant even tell anymore. I drove my wife’s Volvo SUV last night and everything just felt wrong ?. I typically drive about 400-500 miles per month and have already put 1500+ on the R1S in one month. Enjoy!!!

Looks like you maintained that 4Runner well! I have had every model of 4Runner prior to my R1T. I was diehard on them. Currently trying to convince my wife she needs the new Land Cruiser so I can scratch that itch again. Congrats on the R1S. The wrap looks great!

I drove a 15-year old 2008 Ford Escape XLT that I bought for $21k the month before my daughter was born. It was a great basic 4-seater SUV, never any problems, but she and I much prefer this one!

Not 20 but 17 year old 4Runner. Which my shop mechanics want to buy when I get my Rivian. Despite 243k miles.

Coming out of a 2004 GMC Envoy V8 XUV with 380kish miles.. Its definity going to be a upgrade in technology. I really dont need all the tech, just a bluetooth radio, and I would be good.

Wife got a slight upgrade too.. kinda.

She is going from a 2001 Pontiac Aztek GT AWD with 134kish miles to a 2005 Saturn Relay 3 AWD with 64kish miles.

She only drives about 3-4000 miles a year, so a new car for her would not be smart.
I currently drive 12-20k miles a year.
