Ugh, I hope they don't get into a habit of consistent UI upgrades just for the sake of change. Improvement is great, change for the sake of change like we see with so many apps/computers/phones, etc - not so much.
The only UI Update I want is the ability to see TEXT messages (indicator/badge) like CarPlay.

I would like the ability to change the lighting around the doors to other colors.

my biggest pet peeve is that by default the map is so zoomed in it's entirely useless. I often program a destination just so I have the map zoomed out. I'm holding out hope for setting to be added for default zoom.

I can't believe we are getting to a year now since the reveal of the RBG lights on the interior and they still haven't released any personalization modes for that. I loved the halloween theme.

This is so true! It’s as though the software people are trying to maintain full employment. Hey, if it ain’t broke, don’t frickin’ fix it! Or, at least, provide the option to revert to the tried and true version. Just went through this with Wells Fargo and an update to their app that is just stupid! Also, the latest Apple Watch software made some changes that make no sense. In both cases, they made navigation less intuitive and more difficult. I expect this from WF, but c’mon Apple. Why?!!! ??‍♂ Anyway, I don’t think Rivian is going down this path, so far. As far as I can tell, their updates have added value for the vast majority of owners. And, yes. My R1T definitely rides way better with the latest update.

Would kill for it to just mirror all of my Android notifications with the click wheels able to select instant responses. Just copy what Garmin watches do but stick it on the driver's screen. I'm sure they won't for safety, but not sure how it's any different than the music details popping up (for way too short a time) on that screen already.

That would be amazing if they would. The other UI update I want is:

1. Spotify account linked to the user meaning that if I get in the truck (first to open the door) it automatically logs my wife out and me in. My wife and I have way way different styles of music.
2. When playing something from Spotify, it would be nice to have the "playing" screen to be able to move it to the driver's side so we don't have to lean over to forward 15 seconds or FAVORITE something. I know we can already move to the next track and back.
3. Customize the button. There are some things I don't use that often while driving (i.e. efficiency, tire pressure), I would like the ability to pick what I can display/pick on the screen.

My consistent wish list has been unchanged for a while now:
1. blind spot cams;
2. infotainment apps;
3. text messaging UI.

It is the nature of people to resist change and not like things unfamiliar. It is only amplified when it is a forced change and not the users choice to make the change.

This happens all of the time when there are major UI changes, think Windows, Apple, iPad, iPhone, Android, Tesla, etc. People always push back when the changes come out, then they get used to them, only to complain again when the next one comes out.

I try to reserve my responses to these changes until I’ve had a few weeks to play with them. There are times I find things that I wish had not changed but overall after a couple of weeks the new UI becomes familiar and not such a big deal.

While many of us hope the ambient lights are RGB or RGBW, so far we’ve only seen the R and the W. It seems silly and shortsighted for Rivian to only include 2 colors, but I’m trying to keep my expectations in line with what we’ve seen.

Likewise the front light bar in the center has shown white and green. It could be those are the only 2 colors present or it could be we’ll get a multicolor light show mode in December that works when the vehicle is in Park only.

If nothing else, Rivian could give us an all-green light show front and rear for St. Patrick’s Day when the vehicle is in Park.

Agree to a degree. However, when changes add features of dubious value to the vast majority of users, at the expense of efficient, everyday functionality for those same users, well that is irksome. But, as you noted, sometimes it takes awhile to get used to a given change, so I try to be patient. One financial instituion I deal with decided to make significant changes to their app. But, they must have figured it was going piss off a significant number of their clientele, so they offered their users the ability to continue to use the previous system. I thought that was the right way to do it. Anyway, enough of that rant ✌

I noticed on a range test (sorry cant remember which one) that at the end when they were close to zero the interior lights had changed/ or were red. Not sure if that is a feature of if they had customized it. If a feature it maybe it means there are RBG LCD's back there.....

Mine works great. Maybe check with service.
The fact that its an industry standard sensor implementation likely means that there is some calibration or alignment issue with vehicles where it doesn't work correctly.

This wouldn't surprise me in the least given all the other manufacturing mistakes that are on Rivians.

id like to see the rear bed camera operate when the tail gate is down.
I would prefer being able to select it.

They did say they were working on it, but that it was complicated because it was a different type of camera. It does seem to have high resolution.
